What do we do when we’re facing a difficult decision and desperately want God to tell us what to do? Through the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, we discover that wisdom isn’t about finding the right answers but knowing the God who holds all things, learning to seek Him first in prayer, trust His sovereignty, and walk in reverence and closeness with Him.

In Mark 10, Jesus encounters a wealthy young man who has everything the world says should satisfy, yet struggles to surrender the one thing standing between him and a deeper relationship with God. As we conclude our generosity series, we’re invited to consider what we’re holding onto too tightly—whether money, relationships, careers, or everyday habits—and what it looks like to trust Jesus with open hands.

What does it mean to move from doing generous things to becoming a genuinely generous person? Drawing from 2 Corinthians 8, this message explores how God’s grace transforms generosity from a fleeting moment of inspiration into a lasting way of life, inviting us to stop trying harder and start receiving more deeply from Him.

What if generosity was never really about finding the right number, but about responding to who God is? Through Scripture, we see that giving is ultimately an act of worship and trust, inviting us to stop asking, “How much is enough?” and start asking, “What am I still holding onto?”

This message from Luke 12 challenges us to consider whether the things we are chasing most aggressively—wealth, security, and possessions—are actually working against us. Through the parable of the rich fool, Jesus exposes the lie of materialism and invites us to honestly examine what we are trusting to make us feel secure, successful, and ultimately like we have enough.

What does it really mean to live with open hands, especially when giving can bring up suspicion, financial pressure, or the temptation to simply give enough to check a box? John 3:16 reminds us that generosity begins with God, who “gave” out of love, challenging us to see our own giving not as an obligation but as a reflection of His sacrificial, cheerful, and abundant generosity.

We are invited to examine whether our finances reveal that we truly trust God as the owner of everything or whether we are holding tightly to what we have as if we are the owners. Drawing from Matthew 25 and Genesis, it calls us back to our original design as stewards who trust God, open our hands, and use what He has entrusted to us to multiply His goodness in the world.

Matthew 16 reminds us that who we believe Jesus is shapes how we live, pray, and engage with the world around us. Rather than trying to convince others of Jesus, we are called to be so captivated by who he is that our lives naturally bear witness to his beauty and greatness.

Revelation 2 challenges us to see that the greatest danger to our faith may not be rebellion, but slowly drifting from our love for Jesus while continuing to do all the right things. Through the church in Ephesus, Jesus reminds us that our obedience, service, and sound doctrine mean nothing without love, inviting us to repent, return to our first love, and make Jesus the center of everything we do.

Hosea 14 ends the book with a tender invitation to return to God, offering a clear path of repentance that begins with honestly naming our sin, renouncing false sources of security, and trusting in God’s faithfulness. Rather than leaving us in our wandering, God promises healing, love, peace, flourishing, and His presence when we stop organizing our lives around everything except Him and come home.
