Text: Matthew 4.12-17
John the Baptist is in prison, Rome is in charge, and people are still being marginalized and mistreated. God’s people (and the whole world) are desperate for some good news in the middle of their own wilderness season.
This is the backdrop as Jesus emerges from the wilderness and begins proclaiming His message. In a world full of tension and conflict between competing kingdoms (political, social, and personal) the need for good news is as urgent as ever.
Today, as we begin our final descent toward the end of Beyond the Wilderness, we turn to Matthew 4.12–17 and the rise of a better kingdom.
---
Questions for After:
1. How have you been challenged in this series thus far? How have you been encouraged?
2. What’s your experience of this better Kingdom that Jesus brings (i.e. what’s your story)?
