In this vulnerable episode, I’m sharing the deeper story behind my relationship with food, hunger, self-worth, and what I call the chosen wound.
This is not a conversation about judging celebrities, body size, or anyone’s use of GLP-1 medications or appetite suppressants. It is about the larger cultural pattern of praising people for becoming smaller without always asking whether they are okay—and the ways many of us quietly struggle to nourish ourselves, rest, receive support, or believe we are worthy of care.
For years, I could understand my worth intellectually. I had boundaries. I had standards. I could walk away from situations that did not honor me. But feeding myself consistently felt impossible. As a working single mom navigating postpartum depletion, survival mode, and the emotional weight of feeling unseen, food became much more than food.
In this episode, I share how my parents supported my daughters and me through difficult seasons, how hunger became tangled up with grief and abandonment, why being taken out to dinner felt like being chosen, and the unexpected healing shift that helped nourishment start to feel like love again.
If you have ever known what you “should” do for yourself but felt like your body would not let you do it, this episode is for you. You are not lazy. You are not broken. Sometimes the patterns we judge most harshly are old survival strategies asking to be witnessed with compassion.
Please remember: this episode shares personal experience and spiritual reflection, not medical advice. If you are struggling to eat consistently, experiencing rapid weight changes, dizziness, fainting, hair loss, or distress around food, please reach out to a qualified medical or mental-health professional for support.
