He's spent 30+ years tackling major conservation challenges, from protecting the Colorado River to restoring California’s Trinity River and managing Central Valley wetlands.

He previously worked with the Environmental Defense Fund and authored Paradise Regained: Solutions for Restoring Yosemite’s Hetch Hetchy Valley. He’s recognized as an expert by the California legislature, state water board, and federal courts.

Dr. Carolyn Finney is a storyteller, cultural geographer, and scholar-in-residence at the Franklin Environmental Center at Middlebury College. Dr. Finney served on the U.S. National Parks Advisory Board for nearly a decade, and is the author of the book, Black Faces, White Spaces, which addresses the relationship of African Americans to the outdoors.
