Ricky Byrd- Making a Clean Getaway!

Ricky Byrd is in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Blackhearts…as in Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

While “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” was a number one hit back in 1982, Byrd these days, is more interested in playing his heart out for something else dear to his heart.

Don’t get me wrong, Byrd is proud and humbled by his success but he is also a man on mission.

Ricky has just released an album titled Clean Getaway that features 12 songs all about recovery from addiction. This is a topic near to Byrd’s heart as he has been clean and sober for 30 years.

The album shares the same name as Ricky’s charity. In fact, this album was created so Byrd can give the album away to the people he speaks, and plays, for in drug and alcohol rehabs.

Of course, you don’t have to go to rehab to get it! You can check it out at https://www.cleangetaway.nyc/

It is a killer album. Read our review of this amazing album to learn about the music on it, as well as his famous guests: http://www.classicrockrevisited.com/show_review.php?id=1709

Jeb and James caught up with Ricky for a rare serious interview for The Rock Brigade Podcast. We are also putting this informative and inspirational audio interview up on Classic Rock Revisited because Byrd has an important message.

Jeb, James along with Gwen the Rocker Chick went to a coffee shop somewhere in Oklahoma and sat down with Robert Mason of the band Warrant. We chatted about Warrant, Rock Music, Cheap Trick, Gwen and more. Robert even flipped us off and James' daughter bought him a cup of coffee. This is a bucket of laughs from THE ROCK BRIGADE!

Jeff is a kick ass dude! We had a BLAST.

James and Jeb sit down with Jeff and end up laughing our asses off! We make fun of a lot of people. We apologies to Kelly Borror, Eddie Trunk and anyone else we spouted off about. We may have even made fun of southern accents and the free beer James got from Jackyl. We are dicks.

Jeff sat down with us to discuss his amazing book that chronicles his life on the road as a rock star titled No Filter...Stories Better Left Untold: Part 1. This book will drop your jaw, make you laugh and make it so your wife will NEVER allow you to hang out with Jackyl! Apparently Huey Lewis has a giant penis. READ THE BOOK to find out more!

In addition we also talk about Jackyl being on the road celebrating their 25th anniversary as well as their latest release ROWYCO (Rock Out With Your Cock Out).

Do NOT miss this one! We are funny fuckers!

E26: Ike Willis of Frank Zappa Fame

James Rozell and Jeb Wright of The Rock Brigade sat down with Ike Willis to discuss the ex-Zappa guitarist/vocalist upcoming tour. We also talk a lot about Frank Zappa and guest interviewer Kelly Borror shows up to show off his Zappa-expertise!

Here is the press release for Ike's upcoming tour!

Guitarist Ike Willis appeared on countless albums and tours with the legendary Frank Zappa, and recently returned to the rock scene as the leader of the Ike Willis Project. Joining Ike on the tour is another extraordinarily talented guitarist, Grammy winner Micki Free, who will be opening the shows for the Ike Wills Project at the beginning of October.

Both artists will be performing separate sets (and sharing the same backing band), with Ike performing the material from his 2 solo releases, along with doing some of the Zappa material he is most known for - with both artists uniting together at the end of the night for a finale. To check out recent music videos by each, follow these links:

First discovered by Gene Simmons, Free won a Grammy as a Prince protégé in the RNB/Soul/Funk band, Shalamar, and landed songs in Beverly Hills Cop and Footloose. Free then became part of the great 80’s rock band Crown of Thorns (with Jean Beauvoir), who were a major hit on the European charts, before eventually reuniting under their names in 2015 as Beauvoir/Free.

Free’s latest solo blues release, ‘Tattoo Burn,’ was recently reissued as ‘Tattoo Burn Redux’ (via Mysterium Blues Records), and has been on the Blues Radio charts since May, usually never below 27 on the Top 50 Album charts and as high as 3, and has had 3-5 songs on the top 50 songs charts.

Ike Willis was one of Frank Zappa's most dedicated sidemen - as both a vocalist and guitarist - and continues the tradition with reverent authenticity today. In addition to his own progressive projects and solo material, Ike continues to carry the Zappa torch by contributing to Zappa tributes and appearing at the annual Zappanale Festival in Germany multiple times.

Ike is proud of the superstar lineup that comprises his band, including guitarist JP Cervoni (Buddy Miles and The Babys) along with two time Grammy nominee drummer, Duane Waider, keyboardist Shane Cotter (The Chambers Brothers and Bo Diddley), and Robert Byrnes on bass who recorded with Michael McDonald.

Don't miss a chance to see Ike and his band live as they play it all!

The legendary Carl Palmer sits down with Jeb Wright and talks about his ELP Legacy tour!

Carl is on the road with YES and Todd Rungren. Carl is playing all ELP tunes with a guitarist in place of a keyboard player. This change makes the music of ELP harder and edgier! It rocks!

We also discuss the loss of Greg Lake and Keith Emerson, as well as his ASIA bandmate John Wetton. Carl speaks openly about all three men even admitting Greg was not happy with Carl ending ELP.

This interview is riveting! At times heartfelt, funny and honest! Don't miss this one!
