  • Jesus is Better Than Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:11-28) - Hebrews - Consider Jesus
The question of how to adequately deal with the pain and devastation of sin is an age old dilemma. In chapter 7 of Hebrews, we'll learn that the Aaronic Priesthood, the Law (good works) and even the priest Melchizedek can offer only temporary solutions. Each of these are ultimately weak and unable to heal us completely. But, Jesus is the real deal and His sacrifice is the one and only permanent solution! He is the "perfect" high priest, sacrifice and Savior for us.

  • The Order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:1-10) - Hebrews - Consider Jesus
The author of Hebrews has hesitated in making the point (and re-visiting the argument) that Jesus is our high priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek. He feared his audience was too spiritually immature to hear it. But, after some warnings, exhortations and encouragement in Chapter 6, he now addresses it.
