Instead of believing the best in people, our human nature has a tendency to think the worst. Renew your mind and think on what is admirable - the best and excellent things about someone or something,
Thinking on what is lovely can be a challenge. It means that we must be deliberate in thought in order to be deliberate in action. The world will know our love for God by how we love others - even our enemies.
King David wanted to have a heart of purity before the Lord. Jesus told us that the pure in heart will see God. This posture of purity and humility puts us in a position to be lifted up for His honor.
God is asking us to think on what is right. Right thinking will soon enough been to affect right doing.
What is going to count for eternity? Don't waste your mental time on things that won't last. Give eternal value to your thought life.
The more we think on and engage in His truth, the more we are able to see things in our lives that don't line up with His truth. His grace allows us to repent of those things and change our heart, our mind, and our direction.
God wants us to discover Him, to find Him. He may not illuminate everything, but He gives us enough to take the next step in front of us.
King David's desire was to dwell in the house of the Lord, behold Him in His beauty, and to seek Him in His sanctuary. What you dwell on is what you will rely on. What are you giving your attention to today? What are you dwelling on?
Our journey of life and relationship with the Lord is driven by desire; Pastor Rusty dives into King David's Desire in Psalm 27 on this first Day of Awe.
