This episode is possibly something many of us won't say out loud because we're supposed to always be grateful, happy and helpful. Well sometimes I don't feel that way and I talk about it on this episode. I'm trying to relay that instead of doing all of this alone with a false smile and a feeling of overwhelm, sometimes it helps if we talk about it and say it out loud. We're human and, sometimes, the frustration kicks in! If you have questions, comments or topic suggestions please reach out to me directly at [email protected]. You're doing your best and I'm right there with you.
It's hard to make the decision to move an aging parent from what they are familiar with. This is how and why we decided to move Edna to a new Care Facility closer to my brother and I.

We are often just thrown into this. Confused, sad, scared, stressed out and uninformed. Then we go online for help and are told that this is a gift, a wonderful honour to look after our aging parents and we see photos and read blurbs of the perfect families looking after their perfect parents. Laughing and hugging surrounded by family. This does NOT happen all the time. We have moments of joy, laughter, clarity and love but often it's gross, frustrating, disappointing and confusing. That's ok, we are all human. NOTHING is perfect nor will it ever be. For helpful, tips, tricks and solutions follow me on Instagram @eldercarecoaching. Remember for great free advice and community support search "eldercare" on Facebook and join some of the amazing supportive groups they have available.
Things can get really overwhelming fast when you're looking after an aging parent. Some of the stories I'm going to tell you in this Podcast Episode were NOT funny at the time they happened. Upon, telling these stories to my daughter and husband I learned to see the humour. Once I learned this, everything seemed a little less stressful. Remember to smile.
Ok we acknowledge it's not all smiles and laughter you often see online. Caring for your aging parent is hard and full of ever changing emotions, frustrations, confusion, anger, sadness, worry . . . you name it. Today's Podcast covers some tips to help you navigate this journey.
