Growing up watching Western TV, I always thought to myself "Man, if I lived in America, I would be prettier, more independent, go to a better school..." and the list goes on. A part of me has always been critical and ashamed even of my upbringing and culture because I felt like it was nothing compared to the free and idealistic Western world. I guess you could say I'm indoctrinated by the idea of the Western Culture but that's not to say that I've realized that some parts of it will never align with my personal worldviews.
