Whenever you’re in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude. —William James
On Today’s Episode:
* I share my feelings on Mondays and sunrises.
* Carla and I talk through some important steps in navigating conflict:
* De-escalating the situation
* Gathering your thoughts
* Getting clarity
* Accepting the coaching if offered from a constructive source
* Assume positive intent when faced with a situation.
* My analogy of tweezers vs. chainsaws.
* The importance of having a learner’s heart.
Navigating conflict and tension in the workplace seems like a daunting task. I think my best advice would be to assume the best in people; conflicts are often manifestations of misunderstandings rather than blatant disagreements with malicious intent. As long as you keep your lines of communication open, most conflict should be able to be resolved quickly and amicably.

PS: I misspeak at the beginning of the podcast; heart attacks are more likely on Mondays, not Sundays.
Question: How have you solved conflict within your team? What strategy did you use?
