In this episode, I sit down with Tina Pedersen, founder of Soul Puppy Woodland. Tina has spent more than 30 years working with dogs and their humans, helping them better understand behavior, communication, and emotional needs. Her work blends training, enrichment, and socialization to support the whole dog ... body, mind, and spirit.
But Tina’s story is about more than dogs.
After breaking her back and facing major life challenges, she still set out to walk part of the historic Camino pilgrimage across Spain with her son. That journey, and everything she experienced along the way, ultimately led her to open Soul Puppy, a place where dogs can play, socialize, and thrive while their humans are out living their busy lives.
In this conversation we talk about:
• The emotional and social needs dogs have that many people overlook
• Why socialization is so important for dogs of all ages
• The language dogs use to communicate with each other (what Tina calls “canine-ese”)
• The resilience it takes to build a business from a lifelong passion
• Why sometimes the hardest chapters of life lead to the most meaningful work
One of my favorite moments from this conversation was when Tina shared:
"I didn’t reach the finish line… I reached the starting line."
And another powerful reminder:
"You don’t reach a destination in life. You walk the road."
If you love dogs, believe in following big dreams, or enjoy hearing stories about people building meaningful businesses in their communities, this episode is for you.
