Federal opposition party leaders not named Scheer: Peoples Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier made headlines this week over his inclusion in the televised federal political party leaders debates. Expected focus for Bernier likely immigration. 14% of Canadians told IPSOS for Global News that immigration is a key voting issue for them. On the question 'which party is best to handle immigration' the CPC leads at 42% followed by the Liberals at 16%, with the PPC five points behind the Liberals at 11% and ahead of the NDP and Greens. Mike Colledge, President of IPSOS Canada writes in a Global News commentary "we should welcome Bernier and his views on immigation to the debates, if for no other reason than he is putting the issue on the table." Projected seat count for Bernier's PPC remains very low at perhaps 1-2 and IPSOS polling shows Bernier with only 5% support nationally regarding which party leader would make the best prime minister.
