The RPG Academy: Faculty Meetings

Hello and welcome to The Rpg Academy. This episode is part of our The Sample Adventures series where we take a look at various RPG systems by using the sample adventure included in the core book or as in this case, a quick start. The sample adventure we’re using today is called Wormsign and is part of the Dune Adventures in the Imperium RPG Quickstart Rules by Modiphius.

For this game we have the following players:

Kevin Stacy ( @KevranGames ) as Anna Margrave the Bene Gesserit Novice.

As with all our The Sample Adventure games our primary consideration is having a good time, but we also do try and explore and explain the mechanics of the system as appropriate but do not swear to get all the rules right all the time.

Hello and Welcome to The RPG Academy.  In this very special bonus episode Michael ( @TheRpgAcademy ) is joined by Lewanika from the Tabletop Journeys Podcast as well as Kevin Stacy from the Game Knight Heroes podcast for a cross-pod event – the 2023 Ultimate TTRPG Bookshelf Draft with Chris Burlew from the Redemption Podcast acting as our Draftmaster aka the Commissioner.

The Draft proceeded in Snake Draft format with Lewanika going in 1st position, then Kevin and then Michael.

We had 6 categories to draft from and we could draft them in any order we wanted.  Our Categories were:

The Cornerstone. Any version of D&D or Pathfinder (though you COULD go outside if you wanted)

The Contender. A TTRPG that wasn’t one of the big two, but maybe should be or could be in the future.

The Indie Darling. An Indie RPG that can never get enough live.

Genre 1 and Genre 2 – any TTRPG that would fit as a genre game.

Wildcard – anything we wanted including a duplicate of another category.

For this series we are playing through one of the endless zero-prep adventures. We rolled some d12s and made this scenario.

Action 12 Cinema is a GMless game, although Michael Ross ( @TheRpgAcademy ) did serve as a facilitator and was explaining the rules (sometimes too much) to the other players. He also played character ( very much based on Jason Statham’s The Transporter character ) named Gabe Smith.

Kevin Stacy from Game Knight Heroes ( @KevRanGames ) Plays Franchesa Prince (based very much on Jennifer Love Hewitt)

And Moe Poplar from Ashyfeet Entertainment ( @Ashyfeet1 ) plays Yaffet Jones a Manhatten Taxi Driver.
