The Ryan Sullivan Show

Pronounced "z-aiv," Xav the Ripper is a rapper, singer, and songwriter. Xav has been on the move most of his life, shuffling between New Jersey and Chicago countless times. It's safe to say he's experienced many different cultures, and this diversity is reflected in his ethereal, yet often hard-hitting vocals.

Today we covered Xav’s influences, the culture within hiphop today, addressing comments about his sound and influences, and more.

You can find Xav’s latest single here.

This is our first ever podcast-swap collaboration. You may be familiar with this method of cross-promotion from the Tim Ferris Show, Waking Up with Sam Harris, and countless others, and today we're trying it for the first time.

Instead of diving into a BopCast episode like we've been doing for the last 70 weeks, you'll be listening to my friend Beto (Luis) and his interview with Marggie P.V. from his 'June in Jersey' Podcast Series.

Enjoy this wide-ranging episode with our friends Beto and Margie. You can find all of the links for his podcast here!

Jack Singleton is a New Jersey-based bodybuilder, and expert on changing and building the body; he's not just an enthusiast, he's obsessed. He's been a competitive bodybuilder for the last 4 years and this year he's graduated beyond the amateur level to compete for his IFBB pro card.

In this episode, we pick up where we left off (find our previous interview links below) after diving into fitness scams and social media trends last time, and today transitioning to nutrition, the truth about caffeine supplements like 5-hour energy, and weight training exercises. This one is jam-packed with information regarding how the body and mind work together.

Young Benny is a rapper, songwriter, lyricist, and performer. He's dedicated his life to the craft, and it's tough to remove his hard-hitting and effortless hooks from your head after only one listen. On stage, he carries a swagger that comes with years, but for Benny, it seems ingrained: natural.

In this episode, we dive into Benny's aspirations as an artist, his decision to remain dedicated and seek even larger goals, and his falling out with team members that left him questioning who was (and still is) by his side. As artists know, music is cut-throat. It's easy to get caught up in the present to forego future success. We dive into the details today, and I share my own experience working with my team for the last 2 years.

Decaf Black is an artist, rapper, director, and lyricist originally from Rockland County, New York. His jams are characterized by 90's-esque flows packed with hard-hitting lyrics about actual struggles, his family, his come-up, and more. His 20+ years in music have allowed him to leave his 9-5 job as a supervisor to pursue music full time, and lean into his creative expression; a level most artists will never get to.

In today's interview, Decaf details the ins and outs of making a name for himself in the 90's hip-hop scene from getting jumped at a show that was supped to be for him, to now fusing pyrotechnics into his self-directed music videos. Black serves as an inspiration for artists and dreamers alike and often credits his wife and kids for maintaining his motivation to pursue his passion for music.

Louis, also known as 'Beto' is an audio engineer, songwriter, musician, and podcaster originally from Little Falls, New Jersey. After a mentor encouraged him to take music seriously, he pursued the craft and went to school on a scholarship to land his dream job as a music teacher. As the love for that job faded, the love for audio engineering grew. Beto graduated, co-rented a space, and is now a full-time podcaster and audio engineer.

As you get to know Louis, you come to love his enthusiasm. It radiates through him whether you're next to him on a podcast, or having a casual conversation. His vibe translates flawlessly into his show, the AyooChill Podcast, and he seems to always bring the best out of every guest.

Sal Nicosia is a content creator, host, and on-air talent. He's the founder, turned co-host of Bananaland Podcast; a staple of South Jersey culture spawned from the wild experiences of pumping gas at Wawa, and transitioned to a conversational show covering topics like pork roll, dating and more.

From his voice to his off-the-cuff opinions, Sal is positioned perfectly for the podcasting medium. After short-lived careers in radio and construction, Sal launched his podcast and personal brand and pivoted to content creation. He's now a full-time content creator for a diesel performance company in New Jersey.

Chaz 'ceehaz' Hazlitt is a celebrity barber, former hip-hop music manager, and co-owner of the infamous Stache Barber Shop in Union, New Jersey. Chaz and his daughter, Natalia co-authored, "Charlie's first Haircut" together - a children's book detailing the ins and out of getting your first haircut as a kid through the lens of Natalia's brother, and Chaz's son, Charlie. The two had no idea they'd reach the best-seller status on Amazon when they began the project on Google Docs as a way to have fun during the shutdown.

We have to thank AK40DEVIN for introducing me to Chaz as well as his cousin, Ariel, the first barber I've ever had on the show.
