Sacramento County deputies responded to a barricaded suspect on Dixon Oaks Lane in Orangevale following a break-in at his parents’ home.
Hazel Avenue was briefly closed between Elm and Central as residents evacuated or sheltered in place.
Update: Authorities confirm the suspect was detained without incident. All roadways have reopened, and residents are cleared to return home.
Another barricaded suspect incident marked New Year’s Eve in the Arden area.
Authorities say 40-year-old Carlos Kelly, assaulted his elderly mother before barricading himself inside a home on the 900 block of Dornajo Way.
after several hours he was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple felony charges.

Shooting on the 2600 block of Hawthorne Street. One victim was hospitalized in stable condition. The suspect fled before police arrived.
