A stolen vehicle pursuit ended Sunday afternoon near the 4000 block of 23rd Avenue after two suspects attempted to flee on foot. The driver was taken into custody almost immediately, while the passenger reportedly lost a shoe during the chase before eventually being subdued.
Also making headlines — Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Amyis Coogler to 40 years to life in prison for the 2022 murder of Corey Shearer. Prosecutors say DNA evidence, surveillance footage, and the firearm used in the shooting helped connect Coogler to the crime.

The City of Sacramento says crews repaired more than 7,700 potholes in just 49 days during a citywide pothole blitz launched earlier this spring. District 4 recorded the highest number of repairs, followed by District 2. Residents can continue reporting potholes through 311 or the city app.
