Lori Burkart Frank interviews Jan Maes, Chair of Nevada County Energy Action Plan Committee.  Jan grew up in Belgium, lived in a small village in Tanzania, worked in Thailand, lived in Colorado, New York City, and rural New Hampshire before moving to Davis, California and then Grass Valley two years ago.  In two years Jan has quickly immersed himself in the community, which he credits the friendliness he has found here.

Host Maddie Davis chats with Asher Perla, birder, wildlife photographer, a graduating senior from Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts, and this year's recipient of the South Yuba River Citizens League's "Environmentalist of the Year Scholarship". Born and raised in the Yuba foothills, he has always had a love for nature, which became the focus of his life when he first discovered his passion for birding at age 12. His love of birds has taken him all over the state in search of new species, and has brought him a deeper connection to the diverse environments of the Yuba River watershed. Asher plans on pursuing his passion by studying ecology at Cornell University, where he'll use his education to fight for the protection and knowledge of the birds and ecosystems that have given him so much.

Tonight on The Sages Among Us, host Kimberly Ewing chats and giggles with Cassie Robertson, who grew up here yet lived abroad and beyond, bringing her talents and experience back to town. She now is on the board for Nevada County Arts Council and is the Community Outreach Manager at Bright Futures for Youth.

Host Keith Porter talks with building contractor Keoni Allen, President of Sierra Foothills Construction, about his roots in Hawaii and Utah, and his personal connection with many historic and newer buildings in Western Nevada County. He believes his current project, reconstructing a building he originally built in the 1990's and turning it into a concert hall, black box theater and convention and meeting space for InConcert Sierra's Crown Point Events Complex, will be a game-changer for events, tourism and the economy of the community. 

Teresa Baker is the founder of the In Solidarity Project and Co-Founder of the Outdoorist Oath. She is a lifelong lover of the outdoors who dedicates herself to engaging underrepresented communities in outdoor spaces to promote environmental protection. Through her work with outdoor agencies, organizations, and speaking engagements nationwide, she strives to foster diversity and inclusivity, believing in building a longer table for all voices in outdoor initiatives.
