The Midwest Chapter of the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation made a big statement Monday, joining The Salvation Army in the fight against childhood hunger. A $10,000 grant was awarded to The Salvation Army to help fund the many Salvation Army food programs across the Chicagoland area.
As many people across the state continue to struggle with the ongoing impacts of inflation, the pandemic, and interest rate hikes, the number of food-insecure households has doubled since the start of the pandemic. And worse, food insecurity has tripled for families with children.
The mission of the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation is to provide joy to kids battling hunger or illness, who believes impact is felt most at the local level. That’s where The Salvation Army aims to make a difference by delivering nutritious food and fresh produce and ensuring no child ever goes hungry on the streets of Chicago.
