What do I have the most anxiety around and how can I create an action plan to help me move forward?
We overwhelm and freak out when we don't have a plan.
During December and January, it was cold out, so I wasn't going outside as much. I remember sitting at home all day in my head thinking about all the things I needed to do but didn't have a plan. And this is paralyzing! Because I was going through so many different, usually worst-case scenarios, in my head I was overwhelmed and unable to take any action.
This is what you need to do…
- Get into action- when you're in action you're out of your head and you start to really feel good about the progress and the momentum that is moving you forward. I speak a lot about energy and the law of attraction and once you start to raise your vibration you easily attract that is what you desire, It's no longer a struggle. But you have to take that first step.
- Create small goals- traditionally when we think of goal-setting you think of five-year goals, one-year goals, but your brain isn't going to be able to create an action plan for you to start today when you're thinking that far in advance. You're thinking too big. So what I do in my own life and with my clients, I recommend setting quarterly or 6 months goals, then work backwards from there. You need to be able to create a plan that allows you to move into action today.
So, let's think about this where are you having anxiety in your life... is there a new fitness routine or a healthy eating habit you would like to adopt but you haven't set up a weekly routine to get you to the gym and/or you're not preparing your meals so you're grabbing quick and easy processed food?
This could be as easy as packing your lunch for work the night before so you have a healthy option available to you. And looking at your calendar on Sunday to see where you can pencil in your new fitness routine. If you don't have time to get to the gym oh, you know I'm all about cutting the excuses. I literally do yoga daily in my living room from YouTube.
Maybe you want to leave your current job to pursue your side business, but you haven't looked at your finances close enough or the revenue you're bringing in to actually see what your baseline is that you need to be able to bring in monthly to leave your job.
So what do you need to focus on right now?
Who do I need to talk to, where can I barter, what do I need to do today, how can I get really Scrappy and figure this out. This has become so prevalent in my own journey as an entrepreneur, bootstrapping and building my own business and being able to leave my nurse practitioner job... especially as a perfectionist. I'm telling you there is no blueprint, there is no perfect process or recipe.
Start today and start by writing down everything that brings you anxiety and identify how you can start creating an action plan that you can start today. From there, decide how I can break this down to work on one action plan at a time. All too often we try to do everything all at once and even worse think the results are going to be instantaneous.
The biggest takeaway is you're probably making it too big or taking on too much.
If you're stopped installed you're making it too big. And if you do one thing and then you start again, you're just restarting the process.
It should look like this….
- Pick one plan, pick a date
- Execute gather data
- Tweak plan execute again
Successful people are adaptable, they're flexible, they don't get so stuck and having a perfect that they obliterate their ability to get things done.
The plan is never perfect. The plan is always changing.
Don't get stuck in perfectionism!!
