She went there knowing that this particular fair might have some college representatives in attendance who would offer scholarship money on the spot – so Leslie went prepared. It’s a good idea to think of a college fair as a day full of interviews – like a job interview. You’d never attend a job interview without taking the information you need to place on your application – job history, references, etc. In the case of a college fair, those things are your transcripts, lists of your extracurricular activities, SAT or ACT scores, and honors you’ve received. Every college representative you talk to will be interested in seeing those documents, and you need to have multiple copies to leave with them. Leslie Tyler was looking at three colleges as possibilities to attend this coming fall and recently attended a college fair where one of them was represented. Amazingly, she was offered a scholarship by that very school while she was at the fair. But Leslie says she’s still going to attend other fairs simply because the other colleges she was interested in were not in attendance at the first fair. She’s a sharp young woman.
