Australian users have been caught up in the latest Facebook data breach after hackers exploited a vulnerability that allowed access profile data.

The social network announced the breach on Saturday had affected at least 50 million users worldwide.

Plan International in Indonesia is deploying an emergency response team to the worst affected areas on the island of Sulawesi, as the death toll from a tsunami that struck over the weekend continues to rise.

Parts of southeast Queensland were left blanketed with “snow” after spring storms dumped hail in vast quantities overnight.

A number of supercell storms swept through the Brisbane and Gold Coast regions, with particularly intense cells hitting the far south of the state.

It dumped up to 48mm of rain and blanketed streets and gardens with a heavy layer of hail.
