The Screamcast

This week we discuss all things Fantastic Fest! Anya Novak joins us for a rundown of her favorite films from the Fest and then Brad Henderson joins Stephanie and Sean to run down all 30+ films he subjected himself to.

On this episode we discuss many aspects of the events that unfolded prior to Fantastic Fest. Here is a great write-up by SlashFilm on all of this.

While Brad is in Austin, TX at Fantastic Fest, BJ Colangelo, Stephanie Crawford and Sean Duregger discuss Arrow Video’s release of The Slayer! We also dive into the Shudder exclusive Among The Living (2014, directed by Inside’s Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo) and a 1988 lost-on-vhs flick Backwoods (aka The Geek)!

Brad Henderson (@BradFHenderson) and Brad McHargue (@BradMcHargue) help Jonathan Barkan (@JonathanBarkan) prepare for his first Fantastic Fest!

*This episode was recorded before recent, highly publicized, behind-the-scenes-events at Fantastic Fest. Nothing in the episode reflects the feelings of anyone at The Screamcast about those events.

Another epic Vinegar Syndrome episode is here! Rob Hunter (@FakeRobHunter) from Filmschoolrejects.com joins us and we welcome Stephanie Crawford into the Screamcast Family. Josh Obershaw joins in for the News and BJ Colangelo joins the party late to discuss 11 pieces of smut! Alejandra Gonzalez (@sick_66) & Stephanie Crawford (@scrawfish) join us to talk some Dario Argento! We discuss THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE and PHENOMENA and then attempt to list our Top 5 Argento films.

Arrow Films has recently released a beautiful box set for THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE as well as PHENOMENA (UK Only). Synapse Films has released a gorgeous steelbook edition of PHENOMENA (US Only) as well as a standard case release. All these editions come highly recommended!

This episode Sarah Jane (@fookthis) takes a break from her Girl Gang’s #PJPartyMassacre and joins us to discuss a handful of Vinegar Syndrome releases including DOUBLE EXPOSURE, SWEET SUGAR, RED MOB, MALIBU HIGH, THE HEARSE & more! Josh Obershaw also returns with the news and we also make some time for The Back Room.

After a couple failed attempts to record a full episode in-between vacations…Sean, Brad & BJ found a little time to explain ourselves!

We also jump into a What’s On Your Doorstep segment and discuss films like Life, The Blackcoat’s Daughter (and more) as well as the new Netflix series GLOW.

BRAAAAINS! This week we sort through a pile of movies on our doorsteps and then dive into a trifecta of brain induced mayhem! First we break our Arrow Films Blu-ray of Frank Henenlotter’s BRAIN DAMAGE (1988); then we follow Edward Furlong into some CD-ROM Horror with BRAINSCAN (1994) and finally we unearth 1988’s criminally underseen THE BRAIN. As always, Josh Obershaw runs down the latest physical media news.
