As a kid you probably believed in some weird things. Maybe you thought weather happened by controls (like the man behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz)? Jeremy Bradley and executive producer Bonnie Winters discuss their childhood fears and beliefs. Plus, things get silly when JB puts Bonnie on the spot and gives her the floor to share some big news. Problem is, there's no news and she has no idea what he's talking about. See if the prank has the outcome you'd expect. Awkward!
Much is made about body confidence but there's a bigger discussion about magazines, websites and social media channels celebrating overweight models. Jeremy Bradley and executive producer Bonnie Winters discuss the potential harm in condoning and elevating unhealthy living. Do those platforms have a responsibility to tell their audience that it's not a great way to live or just pretend it's all good? Plus, if you've had a dream about a person do you tell them about it? JB shares a story about a detailed dream he had about someone from his past and ponders the idea of reaching out and reconnecting -- even though things ended on bad terms 10 years ago. Also, have you been targeted by completely misplaced digital ads? Have you been on the receiving end and wondered how they're meant for you when there's no connection to your life or lifestyle? JB gives some social media examples.
Earlier this summer, Jeremy Bradley signed off from his syndicated radio show, Top of The Charts after 15 years. The final episodes were taped on location in Nashville. In this clip show, JB remembers the segments that he recorded all over Music City and rebroadcasts them on the podcast. JB visited a car museum, the zoo, a science center, went on a kayaking adventure; and stopped at musical destinations such as the country music hall of fame, the Johnny Cash Museum, the Patsy Cline Museum, and even signed off for the final time from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Later, Canadian country music legend Terri Clark chats with JB about her love of Nashville and what it was like returning to the Calgary Stampede stage after pandemic shutdowns. It's an hour of highlights from Nashville with more coverage at nashville.jbonair.com.
It was barely five years ago that people laughed at the idea of paying for porn. It's all over the internet free of charge, so who would actually spend money on it? Jeremy Bradley talks about how times have changed and people are making a fortune stripping down for the camera. It's a totally different form of the entrepreneurial lifestyle. Also, JB chimes in on the over-sharers when it comes to relationships on social media. The people who broadcast every detail about their partner but then when things go south, are they just as open about sharing the deets? Plus, was there anything that you loved as a kid but can't stand as an adult? Have your tastes matured with age? JB shares what he can't stand anymore.
It's Friday and doesn't that just bring an automatic calm to your day? Jeremy Bradley talks about how we psych ourselves up when it's Friday and are instantly more laid back and easygoing. Partner that with it being a summer Friday and you know nothing productive is getting done at work. Speaking of efficiency, JB talks about grocery delivery apps and how sometimes it's best to do your own shopping. Why? Because someone else might end up receiving your order. It's happened to JB more than once: A house on another block got his order, and he came home to grocery bags on his front stairs! Plus, JB has some relationship advice for a listener who wrote in seeking guidance.
What was your most memorable birthday? Have your past couple of birthdays been depressing because of corona lockdowns and shutdowns? Jeremy Bradley chats with executive producer Bonnie Winters and puts her on the spot about her best bday ever. It might not be an easy question to answer -- especially at her age! Plus, JB comments about "birthday divas" -- the people who expect a parade and to be pampered by friends and co-workers on their special day. Is it obnoxious or is it fun making the day all about them? Later, JB answers a listener's email about not being invited to an important celebration.
It was like a Cher farewell tour: never-ending! Jeremy Bradley signed off of the radio after 15 years hosting his syndicated show, Top of The Charts. In the lead up, many celebrity guests called to wish JB well as he left mainstream broadcasting. Some of them were surprise appearances and others just wanted to be part of the fun. Music legend (and fellow Manitoban), Tom Cochrane called in to talk about the first time he met JB. It was on the red carpet at Canada's Walk of Fame in Toronto. Country star, Dean Brody, called to chat about his latest music and the time he and JB had an interview in Dean's dressing room before a concert. Plus, Leeza Gibbons reminisced with JB about her time as a radio host and how the broadcast world has changed since both got their respective starts. TV host, Ben Mulroney, was a regular guest on the radio with JB. He called in as one final surprise. And in a rare move, JB chatted with a politician on the air. NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh, discussed pop culture, sports and Canada with JB. It's a Super-Sized Scribble as Jeremy Bradley says goodbye to radio... on the podcast!
You buy a lottery ticket and suddenly your mind wanders and dreams about you being a millionaire. But we've all heard stories about people whose lives change for the worse. Jeremy Bradley played the lottery and instantly drifted into thoughts he will win and life will change. Executive producer Bonnie Winters chimes in with her ideas for spending a windfall. What happens when people come out of the woodwork and expect to be given handouts? Do you dole out the money because you have it? Or are you selective about who gets your cash? Also, would you just hand out the moolah or wait for people to plead their case for some? JB has a strategy for how to pick who gets and who doesn't. Lots of money chatter on the show this week.
Canada has been in the spotlight because of the government's response to the pandemic and vaccine distribution. Much of the anger is directed at federal policies that have affected people across the country. One of the most controversial moves, was Justin Trudeau's mandatory hotel quarantine for air travellers to Canada. It involves people being forced into a government-approved hotel for up to three days while awaiting COVID test results. Jeremy Bradley experienced the policy at Toronto's airport and recounts the emotional roller coaster that involves bullying, intimidation and harassment directed at Canadians legally travelling and wanting to return home. You won't believe the tactics that were unleashed on him -- including the ridiculous fine he received. It's a crazy story on the podcast this week.
Have you run out of ways to pass the time? Jeremy Bradley and executive producer Bonnie Winters talk about their daily routines. JB starts his Mondays with mimosa... in bed. Bonnie has a different schedule altogether -- it involves baking. The two share some laughs about how each spends their casual time at home. Plus, JB had his first corona run-in at the store with two fellow shoppers. They were a little too close for comfort and then got offended when JB said they needed to social distance from him. JB shares the story and Bonnie chimes in with her opinion. Would you say something if people weren't six feet away? (Remember, Canada's not in the clear for getting close to others yet!)
