  • Gutbuster Special - Interview With Stephanie Part 2
2nd part of our interview with the wonderful Stephanie Davies. In this chat we talk about her brief venture into dance music, her work with Gran Cassa (including marrying the guitarist), DJ Stubble, the birth of Stephanie Davies & The Super Dynamics and her other current projects including the incredible vocal talents of Atlantic and her teaming up with my wife as the backing singers for Paul Cox’s tribute to the great Joe Cocker.

There is also a very interesting insight into what has become a staple of popular television. She finishes by expanding on a story she originally wrote for the CMV Action web-site (see link below)

  • Gutbuster (sort of) Chilled Session Special - Johann Johannsson
In this special episode, Creamy looks back at the work of Johann Johannsson who sadly passed away in February. Whilst he mostly focuses on his soundtrack work (Varmints, Arrival, Copenhagen Dreams, Dis, Free The Mind, The Mercy, The Miners Hymns, Sicario & The Theory Of Everything), there are a couple of tracks from his last solo album (Orphee) as well as a version he did of a Philip Glass piece. There is even a reworking of one of his pieces from Ryuichi Sakamoto.

The book Creamy was referring to but couldn't remember the name was Lost Connections by Johann Hari and the link he was encouraging you to read before listening to this episode was https://www.xlr8r.com/features/2018/02/johann-johannsson%E2%80%A8-the-endless-pause/.

I hope this episode leads you to exploring in more detail a truly amazing composer.

Sorry, for some reason the cafe intro didn't come out this week. The podcast will start silent but does kick in after about 15 seconds.
Chef asked me this week, ‘Does anybody actually read these things? Only it seems a bit of an effort for you to imagine you are a café owner who has hired this classy chef that is squandering her talents cooking fry-ups?’
“Of course people read this. And they buy into the whole café story. Now , I need you back in the kitchen as we are approaching rush hour”
“Fair enough”, said Chef. “As I cook, can I put on my ‘Virtues of the Live Recording album?”
“Yes you can. What’s on it”
“Well, side 1 is all soul & funk and it features Curtis, Bill Withers, Sam & Dave, Deborah Manning, Louise McCord, The Staple Singers, Otis, Herbie, EW&F & Jaco. The other side is a little more mixed”
“Let’s play side 1 now and save side 2 till later”

Sorry for the delay this week and thank you for your patience. Love Creamy xx
