Paul gives an apologetic, or a reasoned defense of the gospel before a group of pagan philosophers. He didn't have to be omniscient or answer every challenge. All that was required was for him to care about his audience enough to do their homework and speak in terms they could understand. Where their hearts ended up as a result was between them and God.
