Technology has advanced to a point in the 21st century where it has allowed us to question and tamper with the very fabric of reality beyond mere speculation. Many 'experts' suggest that we are living in a computer simulation, while the developments of AI are leading to a better virtual experience. We are told that technology will keep us safe, our data more secure, our loved ones closer, help clean the planet, offer us an escape from every day chores, jobs and general life, and even offer us immortality. But tangible immortality is intangible mortality, and technology seems to only superficially provide what was promised. With rapid advancements in AI systems, one may wonder if humans are fully responsible for the construction of a digital sub-reality, the hive mind, artificial consciousness, autonomous robots, and more, or if machines are using humans as conduits to build this world.
