The Vogue September issue runs roughly 800 pages, but there’s always a behind-the-scenes story or two that are left untold. Enter Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour and Vogue Fashion Director Tonne Goodman. This week, Wintour and Goodman discuss the making of the magazine and this month’s cover girl, Kendall Jenner. “In a way, her chameleon-like abilities remind me of the great Linda Evangelista in that she can take on all of these different characters,” Wintour says of Jenner. “And that’s really what Tonne Goodman so successfully achieved in this shoot with Mert [Alas] and Marcus [Piggott] in September.” Jenner’s breakout beauty look didn’t hurt either. “She said, ‘You know, I would love to change something—I’d love to cut my hair,’” Goodman recalls of the spontaneous on-set chop, which came courtesy of editorial whiz Garren.
