Welcome back to The Serial CEO! Today, I’m going to talk about living above life’s turmoil. What does it mean to be living above the drama? What does it mean to be living above the things that we don’t have control over, that seem to steer us out of control mentally and physically in a lot of different ways? Inspired by my readings of James Allen, I hope that you guys can pick up a nugget of wisdom or two from this episode. Enjoy!

* What is drama? Drama is ultimately attaching yourself to something that you don’t have control over to where it becomes a problem.

How can we live above life’s turmoil? We have to eradicate portions of ourselves that get attached to external problems or tensions, or things that have nothing to do with us.

What do these things have to do with desire? The things we pay attention to lead us to what we get in life. Ultimately, we pay attention to what we desire.

*

What are some of the traits that indicate negative desire? These include lust, hatred, avarice, doubt, dark beliefs, self-indulgence, self-seeking, vanity, and pride.

*

What does it mean to be living above drama? It’s about regaining an appreciation for what’s simple and what’s true.

*

Why is there comfort in releasing what you cannot control? Because now you understand that your presence, your being, is only controllable and directly affected by what you choose to focus on.

*

What are some things that we could focus on? Purity, patience, humility, self-sacrifice, self-reliance, fearlessness, knowledge, wisdom, compassion, and love.

* Why should we focus on self-truth? Because if you know your truth, you can offer that truth to others and then you win.

“If you’re reaching outside of yourself to try to bring something into yourself as far as your self-identity, I think that’s when you find yourself in a place where you’re not being authentically you.” [03:24]

“At the end of the day, the things that you can’t control are in the control of something else, and when you release it into that, there’s comfort in that.” [06:33]

“If you just try to detach from drama and you don’t re-attach yourself to something internal, you’re going to reattach to it.” [07:10]

A course is a direction, a charted path to a definite end goal. When you go to sea, you have to account for a lot of different hurdles. You MUST to chart a course beforehand. Success is about having a plan and sticking to that plan over time.

Be realistic with yourself! You need to know where you want to be, but more importantly, you need to know you’re not there yet.

Make sure that you never settle. You have to stay mobile in order to make your life an epic journey worth going through. Create a paradigm in your mind that when you settle, you die.

Prepare for problems, but don’t fear them. A problem is something that you don’t know the answer to, and you can’t possibly know the answer without solving it.

The key to the Elite Mindset: decide to be a problem solver. Problem solvers resolve the unknown and discover the universe.

Discovery enables creation. When you discover who you are, you unlock your ability to manifest your purpose on this planet.

Pieces of advice and lessons learned from Kelli

Do what you really love. Do something that you feel attached to, something that doesn’t feel like work every day.

Be motivated. Go out there, connect with people, and make an impression.

99% of success is showing up and asking questions. When you always show up and you always ask questions, that will lead you to opportunities.

Learn from the people you’re working with.

Start thinking higher of yourself. Don’t be okay with just doing enough, you need to start thinking that you deserve more.

Be fearless. As an entrepreneur, fearlessness is something that you have to have. Don’t be afraid to take that leap, take the lead and just do it.

Don’t settle. Always look for what can be better. Always look to improve and step things up.

Welcome back to The Serial CEO! Today, I’m here to talk to you guys about Direction. And I’m here to help you be clear about it, because even if you have the most well-charted out course towards achieving the life that you want, if you’re going in the wrong direction, you could still end up in the wrong location.

Dominate your environment! Be intentional every day and never aimless in your life! Find your direction and be the elite version of yourself!

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS

Strap up into the driver’s seat of your life! Understand that it may get hectic but if you’ve got the wheel, if you’re in control, then you can get where you’re trying to go and do so in an amazing way.

Be in complete control of the things that you care about the most. Now that you know what those things are, who you want to be and why you want to be that person, you are on the right course, on the right direction.

Human beings are like ships. Our minds can set sail to break boundaries and go across the horizon of what we can currently see, our perspective can be shifted and heightened, but when we leave the stability of shore, there are a lot of unknowns. Weather can knock you off of your course and change your direction.

It’s important to maintain our state of conscious control when it comes to what’s going on in our life.  If you’re clear on your direction, you can always make course adjustments and realign yourself to make sure that you’re always going in the right direction. We can’t be knocked off course from what we’re supposed to be thinking about.

Don’t put yourself in a position to fail. When you do things that keep you from fulfilling your full potential, things that are not in alignment with you being who you know that you should be, who you were created to be, you’re sinning.

Manifest your destiny! Know what currently motivates you and why, and what you can do to influence that motivation to create change and become the elite version of yourself.

Figure out your next direction or your next move towards the elite version of you by asking yourself these questions:

1. Is it a present goal? You may have things that are meant for you, but it’s possible that you may have to table them for a while so that you can have a firm foundation in place that you can move forward from.

2. Is it something that you can do immediately? If it’s not a present goal but you could do it immediately, maybe you could just go ahead and knock it out so it’s not on your mind anymore.

3. Is it something that you can table? If it’s not something you can do immediately and it’s not something urgent, then maybe you should just table it for a little bit. But then if you table it, maybe it’s also possible for you to just go ahead and discard it.

“There’s a graveyard of ships of crashed human consciousness from too many people being in the wrong place mentally at the wrong time.” [0:04:47]

“As humans we have to make sure that we’re cognizant of what’s going on in our conscious mind.” [0:04:48]

“Every time you don’t fully extend yourself to be elite in all aspects of your life, you sin against yourself.” [0:07:31]

The reason why it’s important that you prioritize finding direction in your life is because it’s going to give you power. It’s going to give you liberty. It’s going to give you control. And in my opinion, that’s freedom.

It’s important to be intentional and never be aimless with your life.

As promised, I’m back to talk about Drive! In the last episode, we talked about why it’s important to figure out your “Why”, the thing that puts you into a state of mind where you’re willing to delay gratification, where you’re not operating on a day-to-day basis to pacify yourself. Today, I want to lock in on some actionable ways that you can go about creating progress in your life.

How do you become a technician, get under the hood, work on that engine and apply that drive in a way that’s going to create sustainable progress for your life? Let’s get into it!

What is missing in your life? Ask yourself, “What do you want, and why do you want it?” And more importantly, “Is it something that you should do?” because intention translates into results with anything that you believe or strive for.

Progress is binary. You either go up or you go down. There’s no such thing as “staying the same,” that’s not the way life works.

Don’t let your dreams become stagnant. You definitely have to take it for something that you should do or something that you could do to something that you must do. It has to be something that if you don’t do it you feel like your existence isn’t even complete.

Make a decision and then create a plan of action around how you can fulfil that desire. You have to have a deep, burning desire for the things that you want. That’s what this is about. It’s cultivating a deep desire for those things that you really want.

Don’t just focus on the end goal. You have to focus on the steps that will get you there. In order to be somebody who actually gets the goals that you set, it’s important to be a planner.

Plan the steps that are going to get you to where you want to be. What’s the curriculum for your success? With your self-directed goals, what’s the curriculum for your achievement?

Don’t just focus on the finish line! Focus on the pace! If you only focus on the finish line and not on the strides that you’re taking to get there, you’re not going to win.

Be honest with yourself about what you really want out of life. This is the first thing you need to do. Then you have to be okay with understanding that the level you may be enjoying things in your life right now is just not it.

Contentment is fine, but contentment breathes stagnancy. It’s good to have happiness. It’s good to understand what you enjoy. But it’s also good to be in a mental state of wanting to appreciate the things you appreciate at a higher level.

Don’t be afraid to be disturbed by mediocrity. Everybody knows what that peak experience they want is, and it’s fine to be discontent with the fact that you just aren’t where you want to be yet, because that gives you a “Why”. It gives you a reason to change what you’re doing or who you are so that you can attain that higher level of what you appreciate.

Success is simple. There are two primary drivers to achievement: pain and pleasure.As the CEO of your life, as the executive of your life, most things are binary decisions. You have to simplify your life and simplify your decision-making process so that you can successfully force yourself to raise the bar.

Ideas are the new money. You can take your ideas and turn them into something that’s profitable and something that you could build a life around.

How do you turn ideas into money? It’s all about consumption. That’s where it starts. Your ideas are fed by the things that you consume. You have to mine your mind.

Cultivate great philosophies. The philosophies that reside in your mind are going to dictate the velocity and the trajectory of your life. If you have low level thoughts happening in your mind, you’re not going to have a high value output happening from your life.

How do you determine what you’re cultivating? It starts with whether or not you’re a good steward of the ideas that have already been planted in your mind. Are you optimistic? Are you feeding your attention and your energy to the things that you say you care about? Because if you don’t, your mind will wander! And if your mind starts wandering, you’re going to be so off base that no planning can get you back to where you need to be because your mind is not conditioned.

This is about being tactical with your life! This is about putting things in place, judging each and every decision and idea that comes across your table, and judging it tactically as to whether it’s helping you to be the type of person who is capable of reaping the type of results that you want and gaining the type of rewards that you want.

How do you judge whether an idea is good or bad? Take action on it! Do it! That’s how you’ll judge whether it’s good or bad.

Don’t hesitate! Hesitation kills opportunity.

Get prepared! Opportunity isalways present. If you’re not winning, it’s because you’re not prepared.

How do you prepare? Focus on consumption. Focus on your connections. Focus on being consistent. Focus on you becoming the peak person that you could possibly be.

Capitalizing your perspective may ultimately open or close opportunities for you. It starts with people realizing they have a story that help create what exists among their own thoughts and channels of understanding. Perspective and capitalizing on opportunity is essential for forward movement and progress.

Understand that your very next decision is your best decision. That’s because it’s going to get you where you’re going to be headed. Even if that destination isn’t the one that you ultimately want to be at, the decision that you make is the best one because now you’ve got another opportunity in front of you.

It’s very important that we understand that we are all inherently selfish. The problem is that society has added this negative attachment to it.

What is the elite definition for being selfish? Being selfish is giving attention to what you value. There’s definitely a negative side to that because many people are selfish with the wrong things and if you’re selfish with the wrong things, you’re really being selfish from a space of collecting or holding on to those things that you believe you value. If you’re selfish from a good place, then it should be a space of contribution of those things that you value because we are contributing, thinking, creating beings. We have the ability to create amazing things on this planet. And if you’re very selfish about what it is that you want to create, that can be powerful.

The elite mindset is full of the things you care about. When you can identify those things that you value, you can consciously be selfish and begin to accumulate those things. You’ll become full and you will overflow. That’s the only type of pure and powerful love on this planet because when you come from a place of overflow, you come from a space of fulfilment.

A lot of people who are empty or who are not able to give from a place of overflow and achieve their elite life, they’re empty because of a lack of self-love – a mental admiration for who you really want to be.

What do you really care about? Once you know what you value and come to grips with the fact that your most potent self is this you that is surrounded by those things, you can be elite in your pursuit of those things because you’ll have purpose behind your passionate pursuit of progress.

“A lot of people aren’t able to identify what they really truly care about and spend a lot of their time doing things that they don’t care about or things that won’t get them to where they want to go because they haven’t learned this one fact: the importance of I.” [0:01:32]

Take a quick second to be selfish. Think about – what do you really want in life? What do you want your life to be full of? And then get to work because when you do, you’ll come from a place of overflow and you’ll come from a place of love.
