We are sold a concept that is a lie…over and over again.  If we have pain the opposite of our pain will make us happy.  The fact is that the road that got you unhappiness needs to be walked back from.  More happiness does not equate fixing your pain.  They are 2 separate roads you need to walk to find peace.
