Good read!
I enjoyed this book very much but was very disappointed to learn that some key people in the book are fictional. Otherwise, it was very good.
a poorly written letdown
This was not a novel about the Duchess of Windsor but the early life of Wallis Simpson before she became infamous .
It ended just as we were getting to the interesting bit !
The writers style is not compelling (and poor grammar) and I found myself speed reading pages to try to get to the momentum..it arrived with the last sentence of the last page
Another look at Wallis Simpson
I loved reading about Wallis and how she developed from her childhood to adulthood and how her background and people and events in her life shaped her thinking. You read so much about her life with "David" but this really explored how her childhood was and what affected her thinking and molded her choices in life. It was an informative read.
Excellent, Easy Reading Glimpse Into Wallis Simpson's Early Life
I've always been a bit fascinated with Wallis Simpson and was eager to read her story. This book is easy to read - flowing easily (with a few slower portions) perhaps as a historical novel might.
I have a far better idea of what her life was like and she may really have been but I wished for more. I had hoped that there would be more information about her love and life with Edward but it felt like this part of her life was short shrifted . None-the-less this book was a fascinating look at the woman won the heart of a king - a real life fairy tale - the book just ended too soon.
Well worth the read!
Fascinating readin
I have always been interested in Wallis' life especially because of my mortar-in-law's interest. I enjoyed the book immensely but I guess the truth of her sexuality will never be really know and has gone with her to the grave. No doubt, Edward's love for her was very true and strong
