The Shadow Signal

Dogmen. Werewolves. Wolf beasts.

For centuries, people have reported encounters with strange, frightening creatures that seem to blur the line between human, animal, and something else entirely.

In this episode of The Shadow Signal, we explore the stories, sightings, folklore, and modern encounters surrounding these mysterious entities. Are Dogman reports connected to ancient werewolf legends? Are witnesses describing misidentified animals, something genuinely unknown, or different phenomena lumped together under the same name?

We dig into the similarities—and differences—between Dogman sightings, werewolves, wolf-like cryptids, and other reported beast encounters, while asking what might actually be behind the phenomenon.

The Shadow Signal explores the strange, unexplained, and occasionally unsettling stories that exist at the edges of our understanding. Have you ever seen something you couldn't explain?

🛸 12 UFO RELIGIONS & CULTS: From Heaven's Gate to Modern Alien Faiths | The Shadow Signal

What happens when belief in extraterrestrial intelligence evolves into spiritual devotion—or a tragic apocalyptic cult? In this episode of The Shadow Signal, hosts Josh Rutledge and Stefan Gearhart dive deep into 12 of the most compelling, enigmatic, and influential UFO religions and alien cults in modern history.

From high-profile tragedies like Heaven’s Gate and the Order of the Solar Temple to mystical contactee movements like the Aetherius Society and Raëlism, we examine the psychological, spiritual, and anomalous threads that weave these movements together.

Are these groups merely psychological coping mechanisms during times of cultural transition, or do they represent genuine encounters with non-human intelligence filtered through human dogma?

Join us as we analyze the intersection of consciousness, spiritual psychology, and the UFO phenomenon.

On the morning of October 6th, 1974, a police officer in the quiet Yorkshire town of Ossett came upon a sight he said he'd never forget. A man — naked, drenched in blood — wandering the street in silence. Inside the house behind him, his wife was dead. The night before, a church had tried to drive the devil out of him. They failed.

Long before the Phoenix Lights captivated the world, another extraordinary UFO sighting unfolded over Phoenix, Arizona. On July 7, 1947, the same day the Roswell incident made headlines, amateur photographer William A. Rhodes captured two of the earliest and most controversial UFO photographs ever taken.

His images sparked a government investigation that lasted more than five years, became known as Project Grudge Incident 40, and may have inspired one of the earliest documented Men in Black encounters. In this episode, we examine the original photographs, recently declassified government records, Project Blue Book files, and the unanswered questions that continue to surround one of the most overlooked cases in UFO history.

If you're interested in UFOs, UAPs, Project Blue Book, Roswell, government disclosure, historical UFO cases, and unexplained aerial phenomena, this investigation is one you won't want to miss.

In the early 1950s, Albert K. Bender founded one of the first civilian UFO research organizations—and then abruptly shut it down after claiming he had uncovered a truth too dangerous to share.

What forced him to walk away? In this episode of The Shadow Signal, we break down Bender’s chilling account of encounters with mysterious “Men in Black,” his claims of non-human intelligence operating on Earth, and the moment UFOlogy shifted from simple sightings to something far stranger.

We also compare Bender’s experiences to the bizarre claims of Richard Shaver and explore how both may be describing a system capable of influencing human perception, behavior, and belief. Was Bender silenced by fear…
by people…

or by something else entirely?

This episode explores the possibility that the phenomenon isn’t just something we observe—it may be something that observes us back.

What happens when a prison designed to reform the soul ends up breaking the mind? In this episode of The Shadow Signal, we investigate the dark history and chilling hauntings of Eastern State Penitentiary—a revolutionary prison that became a psychological nightmare.

From the brutal realities of the Pennsylvania System to disturbing punishment methods like the Iron Gag and The Hole, we explore how extreme isolation may have left something behind within these crumbling walls.

You’ll hear documented accounts from staff and investigators, including shadow figures in Cellblock 6, disembodied voices echoing through empty corridors, and the infamous incident where a contractor claimed something was released from a prison cell.

We also examine the story of Al Capone, who reportedly believed he was being haunted by one of his victims during his time inside.

Is Eastern State truly haunted… or are these experiences the lingering psychological echoes of suffering, trauma, and isolation?

This episode dives into the line between paranormal activity and human consciousness—and asks the deeper question: Can trauma imprint itself on a place?
