In which the noble Duke Orsino languishes in amorous melancholy whilst fair Olivia, veiling her sorrow, denies all suitors, even his grace; and the shipwrecked Viola, disguised in man's attire, undertakes a secret service to woo for the duke, whilst the merry intrigue of Olivia’s household begins to stir. The scene is thus set for hearts in sweet confusion, as wit and passion intermingle beneath the guise of music, disguise, and sharp discourse.
