Why is it that being single still often seen as second class status or something to be frightened of? In a world that often pressures women to be in relationships, more and more are embracing their independence, prioritising personal growth, careers, and meaningful connections outside of romance.
In this powerful and brutally honest episode of The SHE Word’s Young Women’s Edition, ‘Young Women, Single and Successful’, host Sasha Vella brings together two-time swimming Olympian and free-diver Nikki Muscat, freelance content creator Sarah Grech, and photographer Olha Ruccya — four successful, single women for an open and empowering conversation about what it means to truly choose and embrace a single life.
Between the laughs and shared experiences, the discussion takes a powerful turn, encouraging women to know their worth, refuse to settle, and to demand the love and respect they deserve. These four young powerhouse women tackle questions such as ‘What does it really mean to choose yourself?’ And ‘if the right person has to be worth giving up your independence for, what does that standard actually look like?’ as well as giving their thoughts on the dating scene today.
Watch this episode and share in the conversation of four successful single women diving into what they want, what they refuse to settle for, and why choosing yourself first is the most empowering decision of all.
When was the last time you had a NORMAL conversation about a completely natural occurrence for a woman that affects over half the teenage and adult global population? On average women will experience 500 periods during their lifetime, and let’s face it, without periods the human population wouldn’t exist.
But isn’t it true that for a lot of us, periods aren’t the easiest topic to discuss, with friends, family, medical professionals, and for most periods are associated with stigma and even shame. The problem is, that if a conversation about a topic that is so normal is challenging, it will be much more difficult to discuss any issues, or lifestyle choices relating to menstruation.
In conjunction with the campaign ‘End Stigma. Period’ Host Trudy Kerr sits down with three amazing women to have the most normal, informative, entertaining and personal conversation about periods that you are likely to hear anywhere.
Much-loved Gynecologist Chiara Frendo Balzan joins the brilliant Actress, Teacher and Mum Tez Saliba, and Campaign Manager Maria Ellul to have a very normal conversation about what exactly a period is, what did their first period look like, what are the sanitary product options available, what other options relate to menstruation, how easy do they find it to talk to friends and family about periods, and how do we tackle the stigma associated with periods.
This show is for every woman, young and old, and for mums who are looking for help in navigating the topic with their children and teenagers.
Watch and enjoy a normal conversation about a completely normal topic that affects all women one way or another.
The hard truth is that addiction touches every single one of us, either personally, or through a family member, friend or colleague. We may not give the topic much weight, but addiction is much more prevalent today than we might consider.
Whether it is recreational drugs, medication, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, social media and scrolling, shopping, eating, or any other outlet for our emotions and stress to hide themselves in, addiction affects so many of us. A great deal of addictions are related to socially acceptable behaviour and therefore remain unrecognised. Addiction does not discriminate between gender or age; girls and young women aged 12-17, 61.5% are more likely to have an alcohol use disorder than males. The most frequent substances used by women are prescription medication, alcohol, and nicotine products. Women develop medical or social consequences of addiction faster than men, often find it harder to quit, and are more susceptible to relapse, and whilst men are more likely to abuse illicit drugs and alcohol, women are more likely to go to the emergency room or fatally overdose due to substance abuse.
With this reality in mind, Trudy sits down at the table with three women who know a great deal about addiction;
Mei Berrit is an ex smoker and ex drinker who quit alcohol two years ago, Mei also has a degree in psychology and a diploma in life coaching and wanted to share her own experiences of addiction and cleaner living.
Anna Maria Vella is the Clinical Chair at Foundation for Social Welfare Services’ (FSWS) Sedqa, Dr Anna Maria is also a founding member of Dar Hosea and has not only experience of working with those affected by addiction, but addicts themselves.
And Mariella Dimech joined The SHE Word on a number of shows, first taking about menopause and then the very popular series on Women and Narcissists. Psychotherapist, TV presenter, and drug rehabilitation expert has joined the show to share her knowledge, expertise and first hand experience of working with addicts.
This conversation looks at the cause of addiction, the alcoholic gene, the affect of addiction on the individual and the impact on the family, friends and partners of those with addictions. The ladies also discuss why some are affected by addiction and others are not, as well as looking how to identify addiction, deal with addiction and support those dealing with addiction.
A truly powerful show for ALL women of today.

This powerful, entertaining and enlightening podcast looks deeply at a topic that applies to every single woman; the power that comes from being able to say NO.
Host Trudy Kerr sits down with three outstanding women to look at one of the most valuable lessons we can learn in life; when to say yes and when we should say NO. Joining Trudy is one of Malta’s most well known women; singer-songwriter Ira Losco, also at the table is fellow singer-songwriter and Host of Love Island Yazmin Helledie, and bringing her wisdom to the conversation is life coach and HR Manager Serena Massis.
Join the table as the ladies work through when and why we find it hard to say no, the consequences of not saying no, when it is hardest to say no, to reframe the process of discerning what is good for us, and the tricks to empower us to be able to say YES to positive decisions in life and have the courage to say NO when we really need to. Listen out for those Golden Nuggets of Truth as well as the question that might just change your life.
This show is not only enlightening and empowering, but laugh with the ladies as they share their personal stories and journeys. Smile as you relate to their experiences and listen to the lessons they have learned from getting it right, and very wrong.

In 2022, women accounted for 93% of all cosmetic procedures in the UK, with a staggering 101% increase from the previous year. Globally, young adults aged 18-34 made up a significant proportion of procedures like breast augmentations (54.6%) and rhinoplasties (66.7%). And in some regions, such as South Korea, 1 in 3 young women has undergone a cosmetic procedure.
In this episode of The SHE Word’s Young Women’s Edition, host Sasha Vella sits down with three young women who have not shied away from cosmetic procedures — and together, they aim to explore the complex and often controversial rise of cosmetic procedures.
Influencer and marketing strategist Sarah Alfalah, Love Island Malta alum and social media manager Jade Schembri, and makeup artist Jade Borg open up about their personal experiences with procedures like Botox, fillers, and plastic surgery. Together, they discuss the pressures of beauty standards, the empowerment of self-enhancement, and the emotional realities behind going under the needle—or the knife.
Join the conversation as these incredible women share their stories and perspectives, shedding light on a topic that’s reshaping how young women perceive beauty and confidence.
This is an episode you don’t want to miss!
When Scott Harrison told me that he had a solution to combat and eliminate the key symptoms of MENOPAUSE and PERIMENOPAUSE I sat up and took notice, albeit with some scepticism. When Scott announced that he had a long-term lifestyle formula that enables all women to manage mindset, weight, fitness and feel the best they ever have, I said that I needed to break The SHE Word rules and invite a man on the show to grill him and test his promises.
In this show, I sit down with Scott Harrison, founder of the Six Pack Revolution, Psychologist, fellow menopause friend Karen Schranz and ‘Primary School Teacher - turned Fitness Coach’ Mel Demajo to break down weight management and the weight management market which was valued at over €200 Billion in 2021 and is expected to surpass €370 billion by 2030.
The conversation looks at the ‘Miracle Cures’ which are saturating the market and making one popular pharma now worth more than $500 Billion. Scott, Karen and Mel bring medical reason and psychological reality to the table to explain why fast-fix solutions only last, for most, whilst the drug is being taken, and let’s face it - it is not a cheap solution, not to mention the significant side effects.
But this is a time when we can look at who and what we want to be in the coming year, even if you aren’t a believer in New Year’s Resolutions a new year is a great time to set new goals and create new healthy habits. For most of us, if we are honest, a new year sees us newly motivated to loose weight, get fitter and feel better about ourselves. And whilst this is a great goal to have, few of us achieve and maintain change.
In this show we look at the absolute reality of not just getting to where you want to be in mindset, fitness and figure, but staying there long-term. Scott also makes a promise to women who are affected by MENOPAUSE and PERIMENOPAUSE that there is a real, tangle and effective drug free solution to address the pouch, sleeplessness, muscle pain, joint pain, fatigue and a wide range of other related symptoms.
Laugh, be inspired and enlightened with this brilliantly entertaining and informative special.

In this brilliantly entertaining and informative conversation Host Trudy Kerr sits down with three amazing ladies to discuss the topic of how we as women can be sustainably stylish.
Looking and feeling good is part of our make up as women. No matter who you are, and what your personal style looks like, we are all built with a natural desire to be attractive. Fast fashion is more affordable and readily available that ever before, but wearing the trending outfit comes at an astonishing environmental and social cost. While the impacts of the fashion industry in terms of pollution, water use, carbon emissions, human rights, and gender inequality are increasing, the need for a shift to sustainable fashion is evident. The planet simply can’t afford for us to behave as we currently are.
Not only are there viable alternatives to the fast fashion phenomenon, but forming a sustainable lifestyle also marries well with being stylish, and Trudy is joined by three women who really know a thing or two about style.
Martina Forte has also worked with Max Mara, Gucci, Prada, BOSS and many other high end labels and has a wealth of knowledge not only on the fashion industry itself, but also shares the formula to achieving the stylish signature look.
Carla Grima has been a guest on TSW before way back in season one on the first show we had looking at style and fashion. Carla studied fashion in the UK and Paris before becoming a designer and establishing her own slow fashion and life style label, based here in Malta - using natural fibres and producing locally.
Nichola Portelli’s brand Rent Luxury allows its customers to RENT high end and designer items - a common practice in other European countries , offering a sustainable and economical way of looking a million dollars. Nichola does this with hand bags, occasional wear and so much more.
Join us for a show full of insight, information, inspiration and a really good giggle.
Let's face it, we really can't have too many conversations about one of the most important, yet misunderstood areas of our personal lives; Sex. For the most of us, where we find out about sex and our expectations of our sexual experiences, hasn't really changed. If anything we are just learning more from media and online.
It is rare to watch a good film or Netflix show that doesn't have a sex scene in them at some point, and even more rarely do we ever find scene that portrays sex as anything less than instantly fulfilling, even when the sexual partner in questions is a complete stranger. Therefore for most, we are lead to question our sex life; our Expectations vs Reality.
The truth is, our sex lives have many day to day challenges that can interrupt our intentions and best laid plans. In addition, our sexual partner might not have the same tastes as us, or perhaps we don't even have a regular sexual partner. From the role of p0rn, to the importance of 0rgasm, this show tackles all of the more taboo areas of our sex lives many find it hard to discuss.
To dispel the myths and guide us to how we can all be much more fulfilled sexually, host Trudy Kerr is joined by three experts in this area:
Anna Catania is a highly respected and recommended qualified counsellor specialised in the area of sex and relationships and offers counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples who are having difficulties with sexuality, relationships and intimacy.
Nicola Falzon is back for a third show, having brought her energy and a wealth of knowledge to our two previous show’s on the topic of sex - Nicola is Community Services Manager at YMCA Malta, a Gestalt Psychotherapist & Mental and Sexual Health Advocate
Pamela Borg is passionate about supporting people to grow in their self-awareness and live their most fulfilling, authentic lives and works with individuals experiencing difficulties with mental health, gender and sexuality, relationships, and adjusting to life transitions.
Make this show a priority for everything that you need to know about achieving a good and healthy sex life, and so much more.
This outstanding and powerful show is the second on the topic of Domestic and Gender Based Violence. In conjunction with Riformi and the 16 Days of Activism Campaign, Trudy sits with her guests to discuss the reality of violence against women, looking at where Malta is winning in the fight against violence, and where there is need to do so much more. Trudy and her guests also discuss the opportunities for the all of Malta - especially men - to create change.
‘Miss Malta 2024’ Beatrice Njoya tells her heartbreaking, inspirational and moving story of surviving decades of domestic violence. She shares her darkest moments, explains what it took for her fight for a new life for herself and her children, and truly inspires by sharing her journey from utter desperation to standing on stage representing Malta at Miss Universe.
The show includes a frank and honest conversation with Domestic Violence Commissioner Samantha Pace Gasan and Cultural Change expert Georgina Portelli about what violence means, when and what can we take action against, and what radical changes need to be made to reshape society’s view on violence against women (and men).
With statistics revealing that 1 in 4 women will experience Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women will experience Intimate Partner Violence in their lifetime, this is a show for EVERY woman, and man.
If this show directly affects you, you will find the clarification and empowerment you might need to move on from your situation.
If you have a loved one, family member - a sister, mother, daughter, cousin, aunt; friend or colleague who is living with Domestic Violence, or has experienced Gender Based Violence, this show will provide some clarity as to how you might help them.
