"The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf" is a classic fable about a boy who, bored with his job, twice falsely cries "Wolf!" to trick the villagers into rushing to his aid. When a wolf actually appears and threatens his sheep, he cries out for help again, but the villagers, having been deceived twice before, ignore his pleas. As a result, the wolf kills many of his sheep, illustrating the moral that liars are not believed even when they tell the truth.
