Have you ever wondered how to pray? What to say? Whether you're saying the right things? Or whether God is even listening?

In Matthew 6, Jesus gives His disciples a lesson that changes the way we look at prayer. He reminds them that prayer isn't about putting on a show, impressing people with fancy words, or simply repeating phrases out of habit.

It's about relationship.

Jesus teaches us to approach God as our Father, depend on Him for our daily needs, seek His forgiveness, extend forgiveness to others, and trust Him to lead us.

For those who wear a badge, serve on the front lines, or spend their days answering calls for help, prayer isn't just something reserved for Sunday morning. It's something we need every single day.

Sometimes the most powerful prayer isn't a long one. It's simply, "Lord, help me."

This week on The SHIELD Armory Podcast, we're opening up Matthew 6 and talking about what Jesus taught His disciples about prayer.

Maybe it's time we stopped worrying so much about whether we're good at praying and started focusing on building a deeper relationship with the One we're praying to.

Every day, law enforcement officers put on their gear before heading out to serve. Their equipment is designed to protect them, prepare them, and help them face the challenges of the job.

But what about the battles we can't see?

In Ephesians 6, Paul reminds us that we need more than physical protection. We need the Full Armor of God — the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.

Just as officers prepare for the challenges they may face on the street, we must prepare ourselves spiritually for the battles we face every day.

Because being equipped for the battle isn't just about what you wear on the outside. It's about what you're carrying on the inside.

In a world where justice can be difficult, mercy can be costly, and humility can be overlooked, Micah 6:8 reminds us of three things God calls us to live out every single day:

DO JUSTICE. Stand for what is right, even when it isn't easy.

LOVE MERCY. Remember that behind every call, every difficult encounter, and every decision is a human being who needs compassion.

WALK HUMBLY. Never forget that our strength, our calling, and our ability to serve come from God.

For those who wear the badge, answer the radio, run toward the emergency, or stand beside those who serve, these aren't just words to read. They're principles to live by.

The question isn't simply whether we're doing our jobs well. It's whether we're becoming the people God has called us to be.

Government....

In our world today, that is a loaded word. Everyone has a different feeling, definition and understanding of what government is.

In the world of law enforcement, it's especially important to have a grasp on government because of how much it affects the day to day aspects of the job.

With all of that, the real question to be asked is, what does God have to say about government? Does His word speak to what government is, what it should do and how we should respond to it?

We'll go ahead and spoil it: Yes it absolutely speaks to it!

We all know the phrase, “Love your neighbor.” But Jesus has a way of making simple commands much more complicated.

In Season 3, Episode 6 of The SHIELD Armory, we take a hard look at the question: Who actually is my neighbor? Is it the person who lives next door? The person who looks like me, thinks like me, or treats me well? Or does Jesus call us to something much deeper?

For law enforcement officers, dispatchers, first responders, and anyone who serves others, this question hits close to home. Every shift brings encounters with people who are easy to care about—and people who aren't. Scripture challenges us to look beyond convenience, differences, and even conflict, and see people the way God sees them.

This episode challenges us to move beyond simply asking “Who is my neighbor?” and start asking the more important question:

“How can I be a neighbor?”

There are moments when even the strongest people reach a point where they just want to quit.

In 1 Kings 19, Elijah had seen God do incredible things. But shortly afterward, he found himself exhausted, isolated, afraid, and asking God to let him die.

Sound familiar?

For those who serve in law enforcement, fire, dispatch, and other first responder roles, there are seasons when the weight of the job becomes more than we feel like we can carry.

Sometimes you’re not looking for another motivational speech.

Sometimes you just need to know that God sees you.

In Season 3, Episode 5 of The SHIELD Armory, we take a look at Elijah’s story and what it teaches us about burnout, isolation, discouragement, and the God who meets His servants when they’re running on empty.

Because wanting to quit doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

And being exhausted doesn’t mean God has abandoned you.

Sometimes, before God asks you to keep going, He simply reminds you to rest, eat, listen, and remember that you’re not alone.

When leadership gets tough, what do you do?

You can spend your life protecting structures while God is calling you to help build people.

The job isn't just about holding the line. It's about who you're becoming while you stand there. It's about the people beside you. It's about the people coming behind you. And ultimately, it's about allowing God's Word to shape the way you lead, serve, respond, and live.

We're building people instead of walls.

Everyone walks through dark valleys.

God doesn't promise that we will never walk through dark places. He promises that He will be with us in the midst of them. We are never abandoned, never forgotten, and never alone.

When the calls are hard, when the memories don't go away, when we experience loss, and when life outside the uniform becomes overwhelming, the Good Shepherd is still there.

Welcome to Season 3 of The SHIELD Armory Podcast!

It's hard to believe that 2 seasons are already done and we are now entering this new season. Along with that, after talking with officers about the previous seasons, we had quite a few requests for something specific.

More officers are specifically requesting to know how the Bible and Faith intersects with their calling as a Police Officer.

Needless to say, we are so excited to get these questions and to be able to dive into that truth during this season of The SHIELD Armory.

Here on Episode 1, we are looking at the life of Joshua. We specifically look at the truth that, "Courage isn't the absence of fear." It's totally normal that courage and fear can live in the same space. It's normal to be courageous but to have fear and we see that specifically in the life of Joshua.
