Emotional Intelligence, also known as "emotional quotient" or EQ is about how well you understand and manage yours and other people's emotions. It sometimes referred to as Emotional and Social Intelligence. This is an important leadership skill in the workplace for diffusing negative emotions and problem-solving. This week on Trish TV's "Shift & Lift" Mindset Show we talk to Beverly Lewis about Social and emotional intelligence, EQ and how it relates to our current climate since the pandemic, of people prioritising their opinion over new information. I ask Beverly how we can encourage people with steps to overcome this tendency in themselves, sometimes referred to as "confirmation bias", and how to converse with people who refuse to be open-minded. It matters because relationships are at stake. Emotional Intelligence matters in the workplace for people to be able to learn and grow and to get along. Join me as I interview Beverly on this fascinating, emotionally charged topic! Beverly is a speaker and author. Find out more about her at https://beverlyspeaks.com/ where you will find inspiration, motivation and mastery. See you there! ... Ever wished you could take your words back? Dr Felicia Ferrara says you don't need to say it. You can do this instead. She has five tips you can do instead to ensure that never happens again. Effective leaders are able to control what they say, even when they feel provoked. In the post-pandemic workplace, people may look normal but given what they have been through, many will be suffering a type of Covid PTSD. Everyone's lives have been disrupted and many have lost loved ones while working from home and homeschooling. They may be more sensitive, defensive, even touchy. As a leader, you may be feeling the same way. That's why it's more important than ever to not fall into the trap of saying hurtful things. The good news is, you don't have to fear saying the wrong thing. Join me as I interview Dr Felicia Ferrara about what to do instead so you don't blow it again! Dr Ferrara is a psychologist, relationship coach and forensic legal consultant for the courts. Her strategies help improve the most extreme cases so they can certainly be helpful in the workplace.

What if you were brave enough to do what you really wanted to? In a world full of fear, what risks do you wish you could take? What would you ask for? Where would you travel? Who would you talk to? Join me as I interview Singer, Philanthropist and Mult-Platinum Songwriter JANA STANFIELD about her life and the difference she is making in the world because she chose to be BRAVE. You will be inspired and entertained. Beat imposter syndrome and take a chance! Sometimes we choose to be brave and sometimes we have no choice. Life is short, have the adventure! So what is courage? It's not the absence of fear. Sometimes you have to feel the fear and do it anyway! That's courage. Do it afraid but do it. Jana talks about being afraid to take a "gap year" on returning from Australia after she finished school. The fear of falling behind in the rat race drove her on. After years of success in the music industry, she finally took her gap year as a mature woman and found a new calling. She took people on volunteering tours to places such as Vietnam where they would entertain children and do volunteer work. That work evolved again when she asked "How can we help refugees?" Today she uses her talents to fundraise for www.refugeefilmschool.com in Kaula Lumpur. There she organised for the children of refugees to learn how to edit videos outsourced from businesses in western countries. Funds donated are used to purchase second-hand computers, around $500 USD each and for their continued learning. If you have a group that could zoom together and enjoy Jana playing live via zoom, or if you would like to gift someone Jana singing to them, please find out more at www.refugeefilmschool.com See you in the chat! :D
Is gratitude a key to happiness at work? What if you really hate your job? Is it right to be happy during the pandemic? Is harping on gratitude really a platitude to stop employees complaining? Does the Thanksgiving holiday still mean anything in America?
Join me as I ask Engagement and Retention Expert and Speaker Lisa Ryan of Grategy these questions and more such as "Can telling someone to be grateful be insensitive toxic positivity?"
Gratitude has become something we do for self-improvement, which is ironic when the purpose of gratitude is to honour someone else for what THEY have done!
This interview is going to air on Nov 10, the eve of Thanksgiving and Veterans Day in the USA and on Nov 11, Remembrance Day in Australia. It will go live after the observation of 2 minutes of silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, as that marks the time when the armistice became effective. Lest We Forget.

How to STOP waiting for permission and get on with chasing your dreams. You don't need anyone's permission! Why do we run our ideas past people who then trample on them? Asking advice is not asking permission! You can learn how to trust your judgment. Too often we second guess ourselves and act like we need someone else to validate our idea or next step. Indecision is a decision and it usually costs us money, time, and even relationships. To lead others we must first lead ourselves. Here is how to unstuck, trust yourself and get on with it already! Join me this week on Trish TV for the "Shift and Lift Mindset" show where my guest is Amanda Mae Gray of the "Yes You Mae!" podcast, a show dedicated to building your confidence online and in life. From the age of 9 Raewyn Weller watched her 10-year-old sister's health cruelly robbed by diabetes. Over time, limbs were amputated, blindness and quality of life deteriorated, culminating in early death. The impact on young Raewyn was her lifelong mission to improve people's health. She saw a relationship between mental and physical health and she now teaches people how to train their minds so they do not undermine their bodies. Join me as I interview Raewyn Weller, a lifelong holistic health advocate and expert as she shares strategies to help us reduce stress and anxiety in our bodies.
