Xiuhtezcatl Martinez is focused and inspiring young man. As Xiuhtezcatl said, “It is not about saving the world anymore, it is about awakening the human consciousness…. We have to see the Earth as more than just a resource and we have to start seeing sustainability as a way of life, as a lifestyle….”
Xiuhtezcatl Martinez from Boulder Colorado is a 15 year old Indigenous environmental activist and has spoken publicly at over 100 environmental and climate change events since his first climate change speaking engagement at six years old. He is co-founder of Earth Guardians a youth organization he leads to inspire and empower young people to unite on behalf of their future. He has worked locally in city councils and with county commissioners, to get pesticides out of parks, coal ash regulated, a fee on plastic bags, a moratorium on fracking and on many other issues. He has filed lawsuits against his state and the federal government for not protecting the atmosphere based on the public trust doctrine. He went to Washington DC and met with Congress and White House staff and got the public support of over 80 congress men and women in his lawsuits. He has traveled to different parts of the world and throughout the United States waking youth and adults up to dire situation of our environmental and climate crisis and the need to take positive action NOW!
He was one of the youngest speakers at the Rio+20 UN summit in Brazil and at the Uplift Festival in Byron Bay Australia. He is starting Earth Guardian crews around the global and has five already established and going strong, in Australia, Africa, Brazil, India and Europe. Since a young age, through the Aztec tradition and ceremonies, he has developed a deep connection with the Earth and he has witnessed in his travels that most people have lost their connection with themselves and the natural world. He is on a mission to bring the awareness of our environmental and climate crisis to youth globally, help them reconnect with the earth and engage them into positive, united, concerted action on behalf of the survival of his and future generations.

Grandmother Faith Spotted Eagle will share stories about the creation of the Brave Heart Society and the challenges and joys of the young women involved.
Faith Spotted Eagle is a founding grandmother of the Brave Heart Society, supervised by a group of community grandmothers called the Unci Circle, which is dedicated to restoring endangered and lost cultural practices to heal the wounds endured by the Lakota, Nakota and Dakota peoples. This process of restoration is decidedly community-driven: “We can’t wait for someone to do right by us, so we have to do it ourselves. I think our prophecies with our native people have indicated that there will be a time when we absolutely have to stand up, and this is that time.”

Angaangaq will tell profound stories about the wisdom of his grandmother, including how she taught him how to “melt the ice” in people so that they could wake-up and change. He will bring into the light of truth the shocking situation with the melting of the polar ice caps in his native Greenland, where the land is rising as the ice melts and the rivers flow. To address these problems, he will share how we can awaken to the recognition of all races being equal and the symbolism of the circle in indigenous tribes.
Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq is an elder, healer and shaman. His name means "The Man Who Looks Like His Uncle." Angaangaq was raised in a remote village in Greenland. In 2004, after years of being the runner for his elders, bringing the message of the melting of the ice to the world, he accepted the immense responsibility of being a shaman. His work, "Melting the Ice in the Heart of Man," has taken him to five continents and over 66 countries around the world. His teachings are from the Eskimo-Kalaallit people. They summon us to bridge the distance from our minds to our hearts through strength, gentleness, compassion and love, bringing about personal transformation and global healing for the times to come. Angaangaq was called by his people to bring home the Sacred Fire to Greenland. In July 2009, elders and spiritual leaders from Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Siberia, the Amazonia, Bolivia, Peru, Nepal, Japan, Africa, North America and Europe made their way to an ancient sacred site on the "Top of the World," fulfilling a prophecy so old that no one knows the time. The melting ice cap is dramatic evidence of our accelerating global climate change. Our world is changing and those changes will alter our way of life. The time has come to restore the balance that’s been missing on the Earth. We cannot wait.

Widely regarded as "South Africa's moral conscience" and described by former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela as "sometimes strident, often tender, never afraid and seldom without humour, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Mpilo Tutu, the first black South African Archbishop of Cape Town is lovingly regarded as one of the greatest living moral icons of our time. Archbishop Tutu, a Nobel Peace Laureate, is one of the greatest living moral icons of our time who was a key role player in the fight against apartheid in South Africa. He was also the first black South African Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa and primate of the Anglican Church of South Africa.
Archbishop Tutu became heavily embroiled in controversy as he spoke out against the injustices of the apartheid system. He became a prominent leader in the crusade for justice and racial conciliation in South Africa. In 1984 he received a Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to that cause. In 1986 Bishop Tutu was elevated to Archbishop of Cape Town, and in this capacity he did much to bridge the chasm between black and white Anglicans in South Africa. And as Archbishop, Tutu became a principal mediator and conciliator in the transition to democracy in South Africa. In 1995 President Nelson Mandela appointed the Archbishop Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, a body set up to probe gross human rights violations that occurred under apartheid. In recent years Tutu has turned his attention to a different cause: the campaign against HIV/AIDS. The Archbishop has made appearances around the globe to help raise awareness of the disease and its tragic consequences in human lives and suffering. Though his vigorous advocacy of social justice once rendered him a controversial figure, today Archbishop Tutu is regarded as an elder world statesman with a major role to play in reconciliation, and as a leading moral voice. He has become an icon of hope far beyond the Church and Southern Africa.

Peaceful parenting is a non-punitive approach. Parents are guided to be very mindful of their stress levels and the emotions they bring into their communication with their child. By listening well and being emotionally supportive, parents can guide the child to make choices from a place of integrity rather than fear of punishments, disapproval or desire for reward. Peaceful Parenting is based on clear and patient communication and trust in the child’s basic goodness. It is a model that fosters secure attachment.
