Summary:
(This Episode’s Main Points)
Approach it with a growth mindset: learn from it and make your products so good buyers can't ignore you (ask yourself what you would want in the product and then go above and beyond that).
One bad review will not sink your shop and the positive reviews on the new and improved version will more than balance out the negative one (this has happened for me many, many times, our products improve along with ourselves).
“You can't please everyone, and in trying to, you'll please no one, especially yourself”. I don’t remember who said that, but it is POWERFUL. Some of my greatest, best-selling products have a few 1-2 star reviews. Keep in mind that if you search Beethoven's symphonies on YouTube, many have thumbs down! Now, I am in no way comparing myself to the genius of Beethoven, I’m trying to say that if he gets hated on, us ‘normies’ should expect it, too :) and this brings me to my next point …
Be open to constructive criticism so we can learn and improve but don’t worry about the people that don’t like you/your product/service/whatever, you’re not looking for them; you’re looking for the people that are the same wavelength you are; YOUR TRIBE! :)
You don't have to be great to start but you have to start to be great." -Zig Ziglar. I tell myself this every time I've felt like giving up.
I hope this helps, feel free to reach out to me on social media anytime. I LOVE talking shop!
P.S.
Let’s show these awesome Instagram accounts some love!
@teachersconnect - They foster a sense of community for teachers by connecting teachers to support each other while posting some funny and some inspirational posts, as well. One I particularly liked was a picture that quotes Jane Nelson in saying: “Children will listen after they feel listened to.”
@myelajourney2018- This is her 3rd year teaching, she’s based in Houston, TX, she’s very positive and passionate about improving her craft as a teacher. Follow her; her energy is contagious!
If you have someone you want to nominate for a shout out email me at [email protected] and we’ll check them out!
