Greg Rider stopped in for a chat with Shane for Episode 4!
He, like Jasmine from the last episode, was on our last in-person season of The Shot in 2019. Greg talked about how an early dream of his was sports broadcasting and how that got him into Canadian media.
After a tragic accident, Greg found a pathway back through a renewed vision, goal-setting and personal development. This passion let him have a new optimism for things he could accomplish and he found his way into booking gigs in Nashville.
Greg was a finalist in The Shot and he talked about some of the great motivating projects he has put effort into since. His more recent projects have brought him back into the Canadian sports world.
Jasmine Whyte joins Shane for Episode 3!
Jasmine won The Shot in 2019 - when it was happening in the real world rather than the virtual one we've been in for the last year.
You'll hear a story of perseverance as Jasmine exited the competition before the finale the year before coming back to win it all. Through advice from judges and mentors on how to network and develop in the music scene, Jasmine learned the "secret" needed to be crowned champion the nest year.
Getting through the tough moments that make you uncomfortable to come out of the other end having grown is one of these important lessons.
Feel free to Follow Jasmine on Spotify.
This week Shane talks with Curtis who brought his fantastic spirit into The Shot Remastered. He talks about his influences Elton John, Billy Joel and Burton Cummings and how he felt when the judges and critics drew those connecting lines.
Curtis had some very insightful comments about what his least favourite part of the experience was. Throughout it all, Curtis brought great wisdom to both the season and this chat. He's got some exciting plans for future music releases.
Curtis has his own podcast called "Chattin 88's" where he's hosted some of last season's contestants, so go give him some love there.
A very appropriately numbered episode is upon us. Episode one features the winner of The Shot Remastered: Michelle Kasaboski!
Shane checks in to see how she's doing during the pandemic and Michelle tells us more about her background of how she got into the music, and fashion, industry.
Michelle explains how she approached the learning opportunities along every step of the process throughout her season.
It's time for The Shot to break into a new medium. If you've seen the show, you know the process the artists go through to develop their skills throughout a season - these are their stories. If you haven't seen the show, this is your opportunity to hear from some of Canada's best new up-and-coming artists. They'll tell us about their career development and some music experiences they have had along the way.
