So what happens when you sit down to watch a movie that takes its time?

In this episode, Nico and AJ count down 10 movies that will cure your TikTok brain rot — films that demand patience, attention and a willingness to actually sit with what you're watching.

These aren't necessarily the fastest movies. They aren't always the easiest movies. And some of them barely explain themselves at all.

From the slow-burn obsession of Zodiac, to the near-silent storytelling of The Red Turtle, the painfully deliberate unfolding of Drive My Car, the epic scale of Once Upon a Time in America, and the staggering ambition of 2001: A Space Odyssey, these are movies that refuse to spoon-feed the audience.

We also discuss why subtitles and foreign-language films can immediately put modern audiences off, why Westerns have traditionally embraced slower storytelling, why some of the greatest films ever made require you to put your phone down and pay attention, and whether modern cinema is becoming increasingly shaped by shrinking attention spans and short-form content.

And then there's The Truman Show — a film that, decades later, looks eerily like a prediction of social media, influencers and our obsession with watching other people's lives.
