The Silverstone Podcast

Brand new to download - it's the latest episode of the Silverstone Podcast as we take you behind the scenes of the home of British Motorsport.

This month we join the team who make dreams come true at the Silverstone Drive Experience. Senior instructor and former Le Mans driver Rob Barff joins broadcaster Jennie Gow as he reveals who is the best driver, Prince William or Prince Harry and hear about his biggest crash to date.

Jason Plato joins us to chat through some of the most outrageous stories from his time as an instructor at Silverstone from Girls Aloud to practical jokes on the boss - do not try this at home!

The Grand Tour and W-Series driver, Abbie Eaton spills the beans on her passion for horsepower and gives you an insight into what you can expect when someone like her might be sitting beside you and giving you top tips on a tour of the track.

And finally, Olympian Sir Chris Hoy shares his experiences of taking his ARDS test to competing at Le Mans and why you should give a Silverstone Driving Experience a go - as he says, it’s like being able to go for a kick-about at Wembley Stadium - as you drive in the tracks of your heroes.

In this latest episode of the Silverstone Podcast we look back at 70 years of Formula One with the help of two people who have a very special recollection of the circuit.

Claire Williams grew up and worked at the circuit and shares some wonderful memories of times gone by for the Williams Team and of course, her father Sir Frank.

John Watson relives his magical moment of July 18th 1981 when he won the British Grand Prix and the crowds cheered on the man from Northern Ireland.

We also hear from one of the Orange Army as the circuit gets ready to host its second race in as many weeks. Janette Pearce is just one of the marshals on track this year and shares what it’s like to meet the stars of Formula One.

And with the school holidays well under way we give you an idea of what to do with the kids to keep them busy…as we go behind the scenes of The Silverstone Experience with a lady who knows everything there is to know about the track, including a tale of fraternising monks!

And finally we talk to Sky Sport’s pundit Karun Chandhok on his first memories of Silverstone and what it was like to be one of the first Indian men to take to the track. In this fascinating insight into diversity in motorsport Karun shares some of his thoughts, hopes and experiences.

It’s another jam packed edition of The Silverstone Podcast hosted by Motorsport Broadcaster, Jennie Gow.

Welcome to the Silverstone Podcast as we go behind the scenes at one of the most iconic sporting venues in the UK - the home of British Motor Racing since 1948.  In this first episode we meet Managing Director Stuart Pringle who has had the unenviable task of getting the venue ready for two Formula One races in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic.  McLaren driver Lando Norris gets grilled by one of the FIA’s Future Stars and faces some pretty tough questions!  Jenson Button and Eddie Jordan recall some very happy times at Silverstone and we meet the man responsible for making sure the track is ready to go when Formula One rolls into town; Lee Howkins.  Motorsport presenter Jennie Gow is your host in this brand new Silverstone Podcast.
