Yup, that's right! Over Christmas, Jo and I managed to record a new episode of The Simon and Jo Film Show to review 2011, revealing our Top 10, and watching all four Mission Impossible films to boot!

All the backing music is from the film we discuss and the same goes for each Mission Impossible film.

I know, I know, I released my Top 5 films already on Ryan's Matineecast, but hey - you haven't heard my Top 6 through 10 and, no one has heard Jo's Top 10 at all! As usual, both Jo and I didn't reveal our choices to each other so you hear our gasps and cheer as we hear what each other chose!

Unfortunately, The Simon and Jo Film Show has now transmitted it's last podcast. Over 70 episodes, 5 Bourne Brain Baffler's, 5 London Film Festival podcasts, 2 special editions (to see the episode-list click here) and here we are with a final episode.




We record live from outside the National Theatre and, indeed, it does get windy - so apologies for that. But, no film news or box-office this week simply discussion on the National Theatre's production of 'Frankenstein' directed by Danny Boyle and starring Johnny Lee Miller (Trainspotting) and Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC's Sherlock Holmes TV series). Details about the cinema-release of this play is here.




We then run through our Oscar-picks and what we think may win, only to finish with a visit to the club and then review Drive Angry starring Nicholas Cage, Amber Herd and William Fichtner.




The blog will still be running but, alas, the end has come to a podcast which we have always enjoyed making and thank all our listeners for putting up with our ramblings and banter!

So, first off, we shall now attempt to - every week - take a picture from the location we record from. This week, we watched our films from Clapham Picturehouse and so, a picture of Jo and I pre-viewing is attached.


This week, our main review is True Grit - the Coen's taking on a true Western in all its 1800's glory. Then we have the usual news and meeting-of-people in 'the club' before we run through the London box-office and new releases.




We finish with some incrdible coverage of Oscar nominated documnetary Inside Job - a favourite to win - and the Australian gangster movie: Animal Kingdom.

Starting from the Clapham Picturehouse - with a noisy truck - this week, Jo and Simon have both watched David O. Russells Oscar-Nominated The Fighter starring Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. this is followed by the usual news and film discussion.




The final two films discussed are the Oscar-Nominated documentary Exit Through The Giftshop and the critically-successful I Am Love starring Tilda Swinton.

From the balcony of the New Years Party, Simon and Jo are now able to watch the films released in the US in 2010 - namely Tom Hoopers The King's Speech and Robert Rodriguezs' Machete. Simon additionally watched John Boormans Deliverance as one of 1001 Movies he must see before he dies.




UK Box-Office and New-Releases discussion ensue whilst the News discusses Gareth Edwards taking on Godzilla, Tarantino's Top 10 of 2010 and Frodo Baggins return amongst many other topics.

You lucky things! This week we have three new releases to discuss! New releases a-plenty! Jo watched The American, Simon watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows whilst both Jo and Simon watched Monsters, the small-film-that could ... costing only £500,000 and making millions!



The usual film news includes discussion of the winners at the British Independent Film Awards whilst we run through the UK Box-Office (damn you Time Out for not updating your London Box-Office in time!) and discuss two mechanical trailers: Real Steel and Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon.

So, we are outside in the snowy streets of London. It really is freezing cold and you can hear it in our stuttery voices. Luckily we get inside to review the films as we finish our coverarge of The Brighton Film Festival by discussing Fleurs du mal and Patagonia starry pop-star Duffy.
