This study focuses on the immediate aftermath of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden, as God gently confronts them about their rebellion. We'll look at how the sinner responds to their sin, and how hopeless we are without God's merciful intervention - the only solution to our guilt and shame.
SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS:
In what ways do we, like Adam and Eve, sometimes try to hide from God or cover our guilt and shame with inadequate 'fig leaves'?
How does the culture's message about guilt and shame differ from the biblical perspective? Why is it dangerous to ignore or suppress feelings of guilt?
Do you practice confession as a spiritual discipline? If so, how do you find it affects you?
How does the concept of sin as 'lawlessness' and 'dethroning God' challenge our understanding of seemingly minor transgressions?
What struck you most about the contrast between Adam's response to sin and David's repentance in Psalm 51:1-17?
Why is it significant that God seeks out the sinner, calling 'Where are you?'
