The Supreme Judicial Court today ruled in favor of Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins against a Boston Municipal Court judge who denied her efforts to drop charges against a Straight Pride parade protester. In the underlying case, Judge Richard Sinnott denied the prosecutors’ request to drop the prosecution of Roderick Webber who was charged with disorderly conduct after being arrested in the Aug. 31 Straight Pride Parade. The single justice held “Fundamentally, the judge had no authority to “deny” the Commonwealth’s entry of a nolle prosequi." Was this a good decision?
