It’s been over a week since the last episode, so I’m easing back in—talking about the weather, eating healthier, and why I’ve started “burping” the air in my apartment every morning. Apparently this very normal thing has a name, is big on social media, and has been standard practice in Germany forever. I also go on a mini-rant about how candy recipes are quietly changing, thanks to an investigation by The New York Times. A relaxed catch-up episode about fresh air, stale air, and shrinking chocolate.

It’s Monday. Or Tuesday. Or maybe time isn’t real.

In this episode, Bree (also known as Slime) hangs out, drinks instant coffee made correctly this time, and reflects on good dreams, grocery non-decisions, and the strange freedom of losing track of the days. The cats are present, judgmental, and deeply unconcerned with calendars.

Nothing big happens. And that’s kind of the point.

Over the course of three days — January 28th, 29th, and 30th — I recorded bits and pieces without really knowing what they’d turn into.

There was a shelter-in-place alert in Santa Rosa.
There was confusion.
There was a gas leak.
And there was a brand new microphone sitting in front of me.

This episode stitches together those clips as they happened — before I knew what was going on, while I was figuring it out, and after things finally made sense. A loose, unplanned audio journal of uncertainty, curiosity, and testing the sE X1 A while the world outside felt slightly off.

Today I’m just hanging out with the cats while part of Santa Rosa is under a shelter in place order due to a gas leak. I talk through the emergency alert, the weird anxiety of watching maps and zones, and what it’s like to be right on the edge of something serious.

We’re drinking prebiotic sodas for our microbiomes while eating spicy-sweet chaos because it’s fun — and somehow both things feel necessary.

I get into TikTok wellness culture, Gen Z’s ironic sincerity, why everyone suddenly cares about fiber, how corporations are betting billions on gut health and flavor overload, and why doctors are warning people to slow down before fibermaxxing their way into digestive distress. Ultimately, this is an episode about contradiction: caring deeply while pretending not to, gamifying wellness, turning eating into content, and trying to survive the moment we’re in. I don’t have answers — but I do have thoughts, coffee, sparkling water, cats, and a growing curiosity about hot honey cereal.
