SummerSlam has come and gone, and we’re in El Paso for a great episode of Smackdown! And Goldberg’s making a big SummerSlam debut inside the Elimination Chamber, will WWE seize on a very cool opportunity to make Goldberg *the* guy right as his star is shining brightest? Will they? Please… tell me they will.

We’ve covering the ‘go-home’ show for Summerslam 2003, but is the Smackdown side all that strong compared to recent PPVs? Matt & Daniel talk about that, PLUS Kurt Angle’s welcome intensity and street fight with *shudder* Big Show, ALSO Brock Lesnar’s destruction of Zach Gowen (in front of Zach’s own mother!), PLUS A-Train and Sable have an off-putting interaction. The Smackdown portion of the brand-exclusive PPV experiment begins with one of the best shows of the year, as long as you ignore midcard matches that barely belong on TV, let alone a PPV, as well as the two McMahon-centric matches. What you’re left with is a decent John Cena-Undertaker match, a solid tag team title match, a fun, workrate-oriented opener for the new WWE US title, and a big-time main event triple threat match between Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and (long, pronounced sigh) Big Show.
