  • Geof Nightingale: Tax expert says National's tax relief seems a fair way off

A tax expert suggests National's trademark tax relief seems a fair way off - with little wiggle room in its fiscal plan.

The Party says it can't offer tax cuts - until it gets on top of debt.

It says all its commitments are costed - matching Labour's 2.4 billion dollar Budget operating allowance.

Tax expert Geof Nightingale told Andrew Dickens the 7.5 billion dollars left over arrives in 2029 - so it's a long way out.

He says 2029 is an election year, so there will be spending promises then too - which will make it difficult to promise a tax cut.

  • How to Turn Your Expertise Into a Business | Guest: Toni Street

What if the skills you've spent years developing could become your next business?

After nearly 20 years in broadcasting, from sports journalism and Seven Sharp to breakfast radio, Toni Street has turned her experience in front of the camera and behind the microphone into her own business, Confident Communication.

This episode is particularly special because Toni was actually one of my Make It Happen students! I got to see her go from having an idea to launching her own business, selling 50 courses and generating $25,000 in her first six weeks.

Toni joins me to share what it was like going from being an established broadcaster to a first-time business owner, the challenges of turning your knowledge into something people will pay for, and what she learnt about building a business along the way.

She also gives us a masterclass in confident communication, sharing practical tips from nearly two decades on television and radio. We cover how to manage nerves, recover when things go wrong, speak with more confidence and become a better communicator, whether you're pitching your business, presenting to a room or trying to speak confidently to camera for your social media content.

If you've ever wondered how to turn your experience into a business, build a personal brand or become a more confident speaker, there's so much to take away from this conversation.

📣 Share this episode with someone who has valuable skills or knowledge but hasn't yet realised what they could build with them.

More New Zealanders are looking to their Kiwisaver to get them to the future, or to their first-home with the property market on a down-turn.

What does that all mean for us who may be retiring soon, looking for a first home, or just entering work?

The Green Party's announced a jobs guarantee programme for young people who've been out of work for 6 months, with unemployment at an 11-year high, and three times worse for younger people.

  • Jonathan Eriksen: Superannuation expert, National and Labour agree to cross party support on superannuation

A view it's clearly time our political parties come together to tackle the issue of superannuation.

Act and National are both campaigning on gradually raising the super age to 67.

Labour and New Zealand First are both campaigning to keep it at 65.

Superannuation expert Jonathan Eriksen told Andrew Dickens some cross-party consensus on this is overdue.
