Flash forward and there’s online courses, AI and Chat GPT, and no memory of what seemed like a 500-pound laptop. What is it like to mold young minds as a major national event takes place? We have the honor of welcoming an influential and memorable educator who so many know as “the sixth-grade teacher everyone wanted.” Steve was in the midst of a long teaching career in Wisconsin when the landscape shifted due to the Columbine school shooting in Colorado in 1999 and, later, the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012. We talk all things memories, reflections, changes, hopes, frustrations, and a look to a (hopefully) more positive future. Plus, we get into some much more fond memories, including what it’s like to impart a love of Shakespeare and Monty Python upon sixth-grade minds. She’s a witch!

We might be biased, but as elder millennials, we happen to believe we’ve seen a lot of sh*t. That's not to say other generations haven't, but those of us in the mid-30s to early 40s age range have had our fair share of "I remember when _________ happened" moments. Or, “I know exactly where I was when _________” types of news experiences from our young to middle-age-ish years. We're going to take a walk down "memory lane," perhaps better known as shitstorm lane, as we reflect on the wild ride of trauma we’ve been on – national and world style – over the past three decades.

We’re so back! It was a long, winding hiatus, but season 3 promises to bring the spice, the guests, the snark, the humor and the elder millennial vibes in the return of Brittany and Cassie’s conversations turned podcast. We wouldn’t be The Snarking Lot if we didn’t dedicate an episode to the American health care system after the recent shooting death of a CEO of a major U.S. private health insurer. We dive into our roots in populist angst against this system focused on illness and profit rather than health and financial wellness. We also encourage you to ask yourself: Why has the indifference toward a man’s death been so swift and powerful? Why do we accept medical debt as normal? How can we move forward toward an America that doesn’t take these most recent events as even remotely commonplace? These questions and many more will be addressed as you park it in the lot.
