One of the unintentional benefits of doing this show has been capturing the voice, the stories, and memories from legends of the game that are no longer with us in person, but indelibly by spirit. Pat McBride was, and will always be, a legend.
Two time ALL American & National Champion at SLU University
First American born player drafted by the St Louis Stars
5 time USMNT cap recipient
A St. Louis, A Missouri, and US Soccer Hall of Fame.
All incredible accolades…
Not until doing this show and speaking to so many of the most impactful individuals in the history of the game, not just here in St. Louis, but across the country, did I really put two and two together when it came to who the true godfathers were. There are names that when spoken in any corner of our town, in any parish or pub, they immediately concur images of leadership, inspiration, and success… Kehoe, Sorber, Trost, Howe, Clark, and so many more, to name a few. But… there is only one McBride.
Thank you Pat for joining us. Thank you for opening up. And on behalf of THE soccer capital of America… thank you for everything you have done for tens of thousands of young players for generations.
Preceding the episode you will hear from three of his players from those beloved days in the Barn.
Carl Rose, Don Ebert, and Steve Pecher.
Please be sure to subscribe to the show so we can continue to capture these stories and save them for all to hear in perpetuity.
