Janet Murdock has 20 years of experience as an accomplished trilingual peacebuilding/conflict resolution practitioner with broad government and international experience.

In Episode 14 of Season 6, Janet shares how she grew up in rural Brazil, raised a daughter by herself, worked and studied full-time to be one of Latin American’s most recognized professionals in the conflict resolution space and eventually become the first female peace advisor for the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund.

Janet is currently the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund Coordinator in Guinea-Bissao.  She is currently busy setting the first restorative justice system financed by the UN.

From school dropout to PhD.  Meet one of the worlds tops experts in Peace Education: Phill Gittins. Phill has received multiple awards for his contributions to peace and social change, including the Rotary Peace Fellowship.

The heart wants what the heart wants.  Even if you graduate from MIT as an electrical engineer. Nancy Chan found her way into the mission-driven field of social good.  

In Episode 11 of Season 6, Nancy shares her interesting career trajectory. From working for a while in the tech world to ultimately discovering her passion for good and starting a super comprehensive a search for her graduate degree to graduating with a Masters in Public Policy. 

Post graduation, Chan applied her analytical skills with her passion and excelled in the worlds of nonprofits, philanthropy, ultimately working for tech companies for social good. 

She currently works in Strategy and Evaluation at the Justice & Opportunity Initiative of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

How do you change the world through digital story-telling? While story-telling is as old as humanity itself, the job title Digital Story-teller wasn’t even invented until a few years ago. Is digital storytelling just a fancy word for marking, or is it a more authentic form of engagement and how can use the process to advance positive social change? What are the key skills and careers paths for those who want to work at the intersection of technology, media and stories?

In Episode 10 of Season 6, Matt Scott shares about how built a career as a digital storyteller.

Matt has been fascinated by the role of narrative in driving global impact, stemming from his previous work in the sexual assault advocacy space. For the past five years, he has been involved in multiple social media for social change initiatives with some of the leading organizations in the world.

Matt is also the creator of 180 of Impact a storytelling project to reverse engineer social change through conversations with 180 change makers and social entrepreneurs worldwide.

Building a successful career as an anti-corruption expert can be seen as the enormous challenge of creating sustainable systems for accountability at a global level. Transforming the widespread and often accepted practice of corruption at many levels to systems based on transparency and accountability that foster increased participation and trust between citizens and public actors is an ambitious goal  that Blair Glencorse is dedicated to achieving in his work.   A seasoned international development professional and social entrepreneur with significant experience across issues of governance, accountability, institutional reform and political economy transitions, Glencorse is making governance work for people.

Blair is an Echoing Green Fellow and also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Anti-Corruption, the Lead of the Anti-Corruption Working Group of the C20, the global civil society network affiliated with the G20; and a member of the World Bank’s Expert Advisory Council on Citizen Engagement. He has worked around the world with governments, the private sector, philanthropists and civil society to improve lives.

In Episode 9 of Season 6, Glencorse shares with us how he fights corruption for a living and how he is disrupting the way anti-corruption work is conducted.  A key innovation of his organization is moving away from a focus on only naming and shaming to change behavior and policy. Instead, the Accountability Lab, prefers to name and fame those that are giving back and working with integrity.
